Job Description:

SUMMARY


Central Environmental, Inc., a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified project assistant for the Anchorage, AK office. The project assistant will be providing project and administrative support by assisting in preparing construction project submittals, scheduling and coordination. Will attend site visits as necessary, assist in soliciting subcontractor and supplier proposals, obtaining permits and assisting with the coordination of subcontractors onsite. Position will also require administrative support, including but not limited to answering and directing phone calls, contract filing and assistance with maintaining occupational training and medical surveillance requirements for work crews.

  • Assisting with project submittals
  • Assist in creating and maintaining project schedules
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, utilities etc.
  • Administrative support as required

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Enter qualifications required to perform the job. Must include education and level of experience.




  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree seeking program in the construction industry.
  • Must have driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Computer skills, experience with Microsoft programs.
  • Knowledge of occupational training and medical surveillance requirements in the construction industry
  • Construction scheduling experience.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Must have a high school diploma and should be enrolled in an industry related degree seeking program.
  • Computer Skills, experience with Microsoft programs, Adobe and Microsoft Project.
  • Basic understanding of construction contract requirements.


Preferred

  • Construction scheduling experience.
  • Knowledge of occupational training and medical surveillance requirements in the construction industry

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS


As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
