Senior Product Manager/ Director, Product Management at Railinc Corp. in Cary, North Carolina

Job Description:

JOB ACCOUNTABILITY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Essential Functions:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive innovation strategy aligned with the Railinc's long-term goals, values, and mission.


• Through extensive market research, build and manage a robust innovation pipeline, and eventually oversee the development of new products, services, or processes through various stages from concept to launch. 


• Actively monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer needs to identify potential opportunities for innovation and disruption. 


• Manage members of the innovation team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES:

Required:

• Experience in conducting market research (market trends, customer segmentation, competitive landscape, etc.).


• Experience in building business cases to justify investment in new growth opportunities.


• Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making capabilities 


• Knowledge of software development and related technologies.


• Strong verbal and written communications skills.


• Entrepreneurial spirit and creative approach to problem-solving.


• Nice to have: Rail experience/ exposure (preferably developed software solutions to parties in the North American railroad ecosystem)


• Nice to have: Experience/ exposure to other modes beyond rail: trucking, ocean (preferably developed software solutions or services).


• Nice to have: experience with Design Thinking tools and methodologies.


• Nice to have: SAAS product management experience


• Must be willing to relocate to Cary NC and work at the office 4 days a week.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/TRAINING:

 Required:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience (product management, consulting, market research, innovation).


• Bachelor’s degree in business administration/related field (or equivalent related work experience).


• Nice to have: MBA


• Ability to travel: less than 25%.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sedentary work: Assignment involves sitting at workstation (desk) most of the time (up to 8 hours) with only occasional walking and/or standing.

Keyboarding: Primarily using fingers for typing.

Talking: Expressing or communicating verbally through use of spoken words (accurately conveying detailed or important spoken instructions to others).

Hearing: Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.

Visual: Through close visual acuity, required to perform activities such as:  preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing computer terminal; extensive reading (with or without correction).

Environment: Work is performed within an office setting and therefore there is no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions (i.e., extreme heat, cold, noise, etc.).

Travel: Required across North America (10% – 20%).
