The Mechanical Simulations Intern is engaged in the development of simulations depicting required loads and conditions expected in Electric Vehicle (EV) battery packs. This position interfaces with the Product Engineering Team as well as Systems, and Validation.
Responsibilities
Development of Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics (FEA/CFD) models (meshing, geometry optimization, boundary conditions and loading) in high voltage components such as cold plate, cell carrier, enclosures).
Post processing analysis and report preparation.
Completion of 12-week project presentation at the end of internship.
Report the progress of tasks on a regular basis.
Adhere to federal and state regulations.
Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Predictable and reliable attendance.
Position Qualifications
Graduate student working towards a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical, Mathematics Engineering, or other relevant degree.
Working knowledge of FEA/CFD methods and tools (ANSYS, Fluent, Abaqus, Hypermesh, Nastran, StarCCM).
Exposure to material testing and equipment (Instron, microscope, lap shear, tensile).
Must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Minimum of 3.0 GPA required to enter the program.
Must be actively enrolled in school.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
