Job Summary:



This Specialty Pharmacy Manager oversees the Medication Access Team which is comprised of the Medical & Pharmacy Prior Authorization, Medical and Pharmacy Patient Financial Assistance and Prescription Refill Teams. These teams are comprised of nearly all pharmacy technicians that operate in a mostly remote manner. These teams provide support to nearly all patients, care teams and providers across the health system that are in need. Primary responsibilities for this role includes the operational oversight, optimization of technology and performance management of all Medication Access Teams. This individual will establish, strengthen and maintain communication and relationships with all key stakeholders (patients, care teams, providers, pharmacy and non-pharmacy leaders, manufacturers, payers, etc.). They will support and contribute to an environment of a highly engaged team and foster the development of all team members (direct and indirect reports). They will facilitate a proactive, innovative and holistic strategy to continuously solve for complex and evolving challenges facing the Medication Access Teams.



EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:



Minimum of three (3) years as a licensed pharmacist and a minimum of two years of professional clinical pharmacy experience at a specialty pharmacy or; completion of an ASHP accredited health system pharmacy administration leadership residency and/or advanced degree is required.



EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:



B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm D degree from an ACPE certified school of pharmacy is required. Advanced degree, Completion of an ASHP Ambulatory/Specialty residency , Specialty Pharmacy Certification and/or equivalent experience is required.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:



Demonstrates effective use of computers and software applications used to practice and communicate effectively. Strong clinical background in specialty pharmacy focused disease states preferred. Good understanding of limited distribution restrictions, specialty medication REMS program requirements, cold chain distribution and storage and medication delivery systems and management. Capable of assuming responsibility for evaluating and monitoring drug therapy relative to the total needs/problems of the ambulatory care patient in collaboration with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Good problem solver with strong managerial skill necessary to both educate and supervise technical and other support staff. Able to work effectively with others to provide safe and effective drug therapy. Ability to collaborate and work well in a cross-functional team environment; including the ability to manage projects and deadlines, and to set and meet goals and priorities for self and others with minimal supervision. Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a sound work ethic. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Participation and membership in professional societies and organizations is desirable. Dependable in attendance and job performance. Team player with a positive attitude.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

Licensed or eligible for licensure in Wisconsin. Active membership in the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW) is preferred. Active membership in the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) and/or other national pharmacy organization memberships is preferred.
