Special Hazard Systems Installer at Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Job Description:

A Special Hazard Systems Installer will work with Low- and High-Pressure CO2 Fire Suppression Systems, Clean Agent Fire Suppression Systems, Dry Chemical Fire Suppression Systems, and Marine Systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

* Install, program, commission, service, and inspection fire alarm and fire suppression systems.

* Install conduit, wire, piping, and equipment for assigned fire projects.

* Execute projects on time and within the allocated installation hours.

* Read and interpret complicated blueprints, diagrams, submittals, and specifications.

* Exhibit excellent communication skills with internal support, clients, and subcontractors.

Education/Qualification: 

* A high school diploma or equivalent.

* A minimum of 2 years of experience within Special Hazards.

* Knowledge of alarm and detection systems.

* Fire Alarm (Siemens, Kidde, Notifier) experience preferred.

* Early warning smoke detection experience.

* Pre-action detection & control experience.

* Experience with Clean Agent gas systems.

* Knowledge of NFPA Requirements.

* NICET Level I or II (preferred but not required).

* Basic Electricity and Electronics knowledge.

* Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

* Basic understanding of blueprints, schematics, and other technical specifications.

Physical Requirements:

* Proper hand and power tool operations and safety.

* Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

* Must be able to climb ladders, pull cables, and work in confined and high spaces.
