The Launch Pad has an exciting job opportunity for a seasoned Asst. Director to work at the University of Miami.
CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Asst. Director, Launch Pad (A) oversees and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the assigned University programs in accordance with the institution's academic and strategic missions. The incumbent operates with the goal of delivering high quality programs to the University faculty and staff and other key stakeholders. Furthermore, Asst. Director, Launch Pad (A) provides guidance and mentorship to program staff to encourage talent development.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Plans, implements, evaluates, and monitors organization-wide development programs.
Implements project plans related to the delivery of new and on-going professional development programs.
Works with internal stakeholders so that the program runs efficiently and effectively.
Evaluates and measures the effectiveness of assigned programs.
Ensures that operations are managed within authorized budgets.
Collects, manages, and reports program data.
Develops and cultivates relationships and partnerships with various external entities and organizations to further department functions.
Recruits, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines department staff and students to ensure optimum performance.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required.
Experience:
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Knowledge of business and management principles.
Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
Manages department personnel and performance, including student employees, and ensures that staff is trained, developed, and empowered to effectively to do their jobs.
Program Development:
Provides leadership for developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic plans to meet institutional goals related to the assigned program(s).
Defines, implements, and revises operational policies and guidelines for the department.
Designs produces and creates all media content efforts to showcase the department ecosystem of startup activity.
Establishes a range of mentorship groups designed to further the support and oversight of the entrepreneurial journey for Founders at the University.
Devises and presents entrepreneurial concepts and grant proposals to different audience with business and entrepreneurial acumen.
Supports interdepartmental entrepreneurship initiatives, partnership of programs, designed and facilitate grants for student populations, workshops.
Data Reporting and Analysis:
Designs programming, events, and data-related initiatives to further understand patterns and predict future metrics.
Collects and manages detailed impact reports highlighting the efforts of The Launch Pad operations, campus-wide efforts, and engagement with the larger Miami community.
Evaluates data to recognize trends, changes, and impact of the local/national economy on entrepreneurship.
Learning Objectives:
Creates an e-learning platform aimed at giving clients a guided experience of running their own business and learning the fundamentals of business when applied to their ideas.
Facilitates, supports, and constructs educational experiences to help inform non-entrepreneurial schools or departments in the form of workshops, seminars, and courses.
Manages various training programs for student staff development Educational Workshops.
Manages on campus and virtual events strategy.
Creates and designs professional development curriculum for student employees.
Manages various mentorship programs for students.
Resource Allocation:
Oversees the management and logistics of department space and resources including but not limited to the shared co-working space and main office.
Works in coordination with the Director in budget planning and earmarking annually, along with allocating appropriate funds for various initiatives.
Assists in making budget-impacting decisions throughout the academic year.
Leads creator of a comprehensive annual giving plan including detailed funding opportunities and potential donors.
Updates and maintains the front end of The Launch Pad website including layout and design, blog, events, and resource library.
Responsible for managing a multi-functional workspace with multiple department usage.
Coordinates facilities and office operations with appropriate outside vendors.
Partnerships and Engagement
Develops and defines University relationships that support the mission and vision of The Launch Pad
Plans yearly events, and engagement activities that further the Launch Pad mission, awareness, and outreach efforts.
Manages all social media platforms including creating content, scheduling, and engaging with audiences.
Facilitates general advertisement including editing and updating brochures and applications, marketing and advertisement materials, webpage, and correspondence.
Participates in conferences involving the global impact of entrepreneurship along with attending industry-specific events.
Oversees the design and development of entrepreneurship related content and programming focused on students.
Designs and produces promotional materials and items such as t-shirts, hats, and more to be used in department promotions on campus.
Networking and Collaboration:
Responsible for vetting internal and external interested parties in becoming mentors, and advisors and forming relationships with the department.
Proactively coordinates and integrates efforts among clients, alums, and designated community members.
Collaborates with University departments and organizations to grow audience and ecosystem.
Coordinates with various University departments to co-create programming for entrepreneurship.
