Volt is immediately hiring for Forge Operator in Paramount, CA.
As a Forge Operator, you will:
Sweep dies, operate all furnace controls, clean and lubricate dies, function as scale blower, and operate tools required to set dies and trimmers.
Set up and use impression stamps.
Assist in forging metal products: Load bars, billets, or blooms into the furnace, using a hoist.
Use hand tools
Transfer workpiece to and from workstations, such as furnace, hammer, and trim press, using tongs or hoist.
Remove scale from workpiece and dies, using broom or air hose.
Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
Understand the roles and relationships of each member of the press or hammer crew and their responsibilities during the operation of the press or hammer.
Have a basic ability to read and understand shop traveler, operating procedures, daily production reports, and other work instructions..
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Relevant certificate of completion from a technical school preferred but not required.
Experience in the manufacturing industry is highly preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, and work at heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve (12) hours.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, pushing, and pulling of materials.
Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
Schedule: 1st shift 4:45am-3pm M-F
Pay Rate: $19.25 per hour
