Snap on Elizabethton, Tennessee is seeking a Quality Engineer.




Position Summary: Hands-on support to develop and implement Quality methods and tools to assure and promote process and product quality from supplier management to product distribution. Support of quality management systems, including ISO certifications. Responsible for leading preventive and corrective actions programs and provide quality engineering support to drive plant-wide continuous improvement.



Responsibilities



KEY TASKS



  • Using advanced quality planning tools and Snap-on Standards, plan, develop, and implement integrated quality assurance processes and procedures. Ensure quality records are appropriately documented and maintained.



  • Provide daily support for Production and Product Development activities.



  • Provide leadership and engineering support for preventive and corrective action programs.



  • Assure effectiveness of process control plans to ensure process variables and controls are appropriately defined, tracked, and managed to achieve product standards.



  • Provide interface between the Quality department and all other departments to achieve plant performance objectives.



  • Provide leadership and oversight for supplier quality management program.



  • Develop and provide quality-based training.



  • Support plant wide RCI initiatives.



  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Quality Manager.




Qualifications



REQUIREMENTS



  • The position requires a BS in Technology or Engineering, with a minimum of two years of related experience in a metal working environment, preferably including forging, machining, heat treatment, polishing/finishing, and electroplating.



  • Experience with quality management systems including ISO is preferred.



  • ASQ training is preferred.



  • Strong understanding of DOE and statistical problems solving tools. Prefer Lean/Six Sigma training.



  • Should have at least two years of hands-on production experience, including blueprint reading, use of micrometers, calipers, angle gages, height gages, hardness testers, optical comparators, and CMMs. Experience with carbon determinators, torque testers, X-ray plating thickness testers, and microscopy is beneficial.



  • Must work well in a team environment. Must be a self starter.



  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)



  • Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, and planning skills essential
