Job/Position Summary

Key responsibilities include product pre-production builds, testing, analysis of data, test report creation via macros, 3D scanner operation, SLA machine operation, spring calculator, mold flow, as well as tracking inventory and performing warranty analysis. The position will also be responsible for data processing and information dissemination.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Oversees and performs product builds for customer orders. Tracks inventory of piece parts, creates and tracks all build paperwork, tracks orders from customers and obtains appropriate internal paperwork, builds product, tests product to assure quality, labels, packs, and ships product to meet customer timing deadlines. Confirms all proper documentation is completed and stored to meet CTS Quality System Requirements.
  • Performs or directs product development testing and continuous conformance testing. Works with the engineering team in the US and other global sites to determine builds for testing, plans for testing, writes test logs, performs testing for the product, records data, performs data analysis, and writes test reports for engineering approval. Directs the testing group to perform testing, if needed, and confirms that all data is available. Recognizes when part or equipment malfunctions and notifies testing or engineering groups. Confirms all proper documentation is completed and stored to meet CTS Quality System Requirements.
  • Performs data analysis and processing to assist engineers. Creates forms and templates to properly analyze and document data, Assists with documentation for global product. Writes control plans, work instructions, and test instructions. Writes Engineering Change requests and tracks the completion of the changes on global products. Confirms all proper documentation is completed and stored to meet CTS Quality System Requirements.
  • Performs warranty analysis as needed. Properly logs part in the system, records appropriate information, tests product to confirm performance, organizes analysis with outside groups as needed, performs teardown, and writes a report for engineering approval. Confirms all proper documentation is completed and stored to meet CTS Quality System Requirements and customer requirements.
  • Assists with qualification of production lines, test fixtures, and software. Performs Gage R&R, reviews measurement results, analyzes data, and reports results to engineering and quality groups as needed.
  • Maintains build and testing fixtures and equipment. Confirms equipment is properly labeled, stored, and functioning.
  • Performs testing within the Test Group as needed. Testing includes oscilloscopes, magnetization checks, resistance checks, analysis of part signals, dust testing, vibration, strength testing on Instron, humidity testing, and corrosion testing.
  • Attends team meetings and supports the following PDP tasks: Benchmarking, Customer Specification Review Matrix, FMEAs, DXF, Test Procedures, eRequisition, Model Orders, Test Plans, Test Requests, RFQs, Functional Safety testing, Mold Flow, SLAs, 3D Scanning, and lessons learned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to work within Word, Excel, VBA Macros, and PowerPoint easily. Work within the project (for timelines) may also be required.
  • Must be able to work with abstract concepts and handle situations when little information is immediately available. Analyze available information and make judgments regarding technical and non-technical situations.
  • Must be able to gain an understanding of project objectives and identify the activities and tasks required to meet the objectives and timing without frequent supervision.
  • Preferred: Use of electronic instrumentation. Understand and use basic test methodologies and environmental test equipment.
  • Preferred: Well organized and able to plan and manage many simultaneous activities with interactions from different groups while handling changing priorities and resource availability.
  • Preferred: Ability to solder and de-solder, as well as understand basic circuit board components and cable/wire harnesses.

Required Education and Experience

  • AAS degree in Electronics, Engineering, Automotive, or other STEM fields, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years as technician in testing, product development, or warranty preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work several hours at a computer.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs.
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) as needed.

  • Standard office Environment.
