Position Summary: We are seeking a Category Manager to join our Procurement team. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Compliance, this position will be responsible for executing a strategic sourcing strategy that maximizes value for The Company, including category and commodity management, process standardization, contract negotiation, supplier development, and performance management.
Position Responsibilities:
Manage a group of suppliers in assigned categories that exceed The Company's requirements in terms of value, quality, and service
Support the Enterprise Engineering Services group for capital project procurement across the enterprise
Collaborate with Divisions and Corporate to identify, prioritize and execute strategic national and regional initiatives that align with business goals and improve supplier value, quality, and service
Facilitate in-depth quantitative analysis and KPI review, in coordination with business partner input and market trends, to implement sourcing strategies that maximize value creation
Coordinate with procurement and analytical teams to significantly improve sourcing efficiency
Negotiate contracts with key national and regional suppliers to ensure optimal value and service levels
Partner with Legal to ensure contacts and terms and conditions minimize risk for The Company
Manage and drive measurable improvement with key suppliers using tools such as ongoing business reviews and standardized performance scorecards
Communicate key supplier updates and decisions to The Company's management team
Support other strategic initiatives and projects as required by The Company
Perform all activities in accordance with the Company's Mission, Vision, and Values, and in compliance with the Company's policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in mining, mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering; business, supply chain or related field required; MBA preferred
Minimum 3 years of professional experience required
Buying and strategic sourcing experience in aggregates or a similar industry is strongly preferred
Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, cross-functional team environment required
Advanced negotiation skills and solid knowledge of the contractual language required
Excellent leadership, quantitative, analytical, and communications skills required
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time required
