Summary



The Senior Operations Manager for ready-mix concrete will oversee production and delivery of ready-mix concrete in the Phoenix area. This role manages the daily operations, ensuring production, delivery and leading a team to achieve operational excellence. The Senior Operations Manager will optimize operations by executing tactics to achieve production, delivery, and maintenance goals to maximize plants and fleet. Reports directly to the General Manager.





Responsibilities


  • Oversee the daily operations of all ready-mix plants in the Phoenix area, planning, organizing to meet compliance, production metrics, identifies and resolves operational issues to ensure the highest level of production, quality, and delivery.

  • Manage and lead a team of operations managers, fleet and plant maintenance managers and other staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a motivated and skilled workforce.

  • Ensures daily coordination between sales, dispatch, production, and quality control teams to understand and meet customer expectations, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Coordinating with support function leaders in areas of compliance and efficiencies.

  • Must work collaboratively and successfully with the other product line operations leaders.

  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, ensuring cost-effective operations and achieving financial targets.

  • Lead and oversee special projects, capital investments related to plant and fleet upgrades, innovative technology implementation, and process improvements, ensuring successful completion with budget and timeline.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


Requirements



  • Exceptional knowledge of ready-mix operations and the associated plants and equipment.

  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Knowledgeable in OSHA and DOT regulations and compliance.

  • Computer/ PC literate. Experience with MSOffice Preferred.

  • Proficient in Excel and various budgeting software.

  • Leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

  • Proficient in various production software.

  • Strong time management, organizational and budgeting skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, in English (verbal and written), with co-workers, sales, other departments and vendors.

  • Ability to communicate performance expectations and work assignments to employees.

  • Ability to resolve employee performance issues and conflicts.




Education and Experience



  • Requires a thorough knowledge of all operations, including sales, production, distribution, quality control, and delivery.

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent years of experience.

  • 10 + years of related experience with Seven (7) or more years' experience in ready mix concrete operations preferred.

  • Five (5) years of supervisory or management experience in a ready mix or similar industrial environment.
