Antea USA, Inc. (Antea®Group) is seeking an Environmental Field Technician in our Atlanta, GA office location.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written), and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong technical support team.
This safety-sensitive position reports to a project manager and will support project teams on a large-scale remediation project in Atlanta. The site is located in Doraville, GA. This position would support other projects on an as needed basis, but with a primary focus the Doraville, GA site. This assignment would include system operation and maintenance of a large-scale groundwater containment system, technical and safety oversight of subcontractors, vendor management, operation and maintenance of dedicated groundwater recovery pumps, groundwater gauging and Low-Flow sampling, well vault maintenance, waste management, and sample collection. Additional tasks could include conducting soil and groundwater investigations and sampling; preparing work and health and safety plans; data entry, data management and analyses; and the preparation of reports in a variety of formats. Other project work would include groundwater gauging and sampling of regional sites as needed. Strong report writing skills are also a must. This assignment is anticipated to last 2 years with additional growth opportunities expected.
This is a full-time position with less than 15% of regional travel anticipated. However, this may require working alone in remote locations and/or outside of Atlanta supporting other company offices. Travel may include staying over at other site locations.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Science and/or Engineering; or equivalent experience with strong mechanical aptitude
0-3 years of related mechanical experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work independently and in team settings
Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in various project settings from industrial to wooded or rugged terrain, and handle seasonally high and low temperatures based upon project needs
This position will require a 40-hour HAZWOPER OSHA certification. While current certification is desirable, it is not required to apply. HAZWOPER training will be provided upon employment if the successful candidate(s) is/are not already certified.
Experience & Fundamental Skill Set
Mechanical aptitude that is suitable for working on remediation systems including troubleshooting pumps, blowers, and motors. Advanced engineering is not mandatory but finding enjoyment fixing mechanical problems and tinkering with equipment is a must. Senior engineering support will help train and mentor the right candidate to learn our remediation systems.
Experience with operation and maintenance of mechanical remediation systems is a plus.
Strong time management and decision-making skills
Able to work independently at remote locations to troubleshoot issues with sampling equipment and produce results
Ability to multi-task with multiple projects or assignments
Interest and motivation to diversify skill set with additional training
Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulatory framework or ability and willingness to gain familiarity
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future; and
Potential employees must be able to satisfactorily complete a background check, pre-employment drug screening (as permitted by law), and baseline physical (safety-sensitive roles). They must also have a valid driver's license and good driving record.

Additionally, if you are assigned work in the field at client project sites you will need to complete a medical surveillance/fitness-for-duty examination and maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:
Medium to heavy work
Subject to outside environmental conditions: heat/cold, wind, wet and/or humid, etc.
Occasional stooping (bending body downward and forward), kneeling (bending legs at knee), crouching (bending body downward and forward) and climbing
Frequent lifting (including push/pull, hold/carry) of light, moderate and possibly heavy weight objects
Subject to hazards, including a variety of physical conditions, including but not limited to: proximity to moving vehicles, parts or equipment; exposure to chemicals; pressure (including noise); electrical hazards; biological hazards; excavation/trenching; confined spaces; elevated work; materials handling
May be required to wear an air purifying respirator
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The hourly range for this position is $25.25 - $27.75. Compensation will vary depending on the applicant's job-related knowledge and skills, education, and work experience.
