Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Production Manager to join their client's dynamic team in Connecticut. This role involves overseeing production operations during the second shift, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, and optimizing production efficiency.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Achieve production standards with expected quality on a daily basis. Monitor all aspects of production utilizing tools such as interval measurement, cumulative data, and standard cycle speeds. Make observations and recommendations to increase production and communicate delays to the shift manager, taking actions to alleviate such delays.
Ensure all personnel follow safety procedures. Conduct safety checks twice a day, address safety issues, and report continuous safety concerns to the shift manager. Record and report all injuries promptly to the human resources department.
Manage staffing throughout the day, communicating needs with other department supervisors and the shift manager. Maintain efficient overtime ratios, process vacation and leave requests, and make staffing recommendations.
Train and evaluate new and temporary employees, reporting training progress to the shift manager. Conduct performance evaluations and monitor employee performance, recommending improvements and handling issues professionally.
Ensure department maintenance, including supplies, safety items, and cleanliness. Prepare for the next shift, including machine setups, and communicate relevant department aspects with the next shift using the logbook.
Address mechanical problems delaying production through the mechanic supervisor and ensure mechanics set machines appropriately.
Ensure material handlers and quality control procedures are efficient. Address quality control issues, conduct investigations, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Manage use of bag/tray tags, labelaire stickers, and ensure proper purging of folders after completion of jobs.
Create reports on material difficulty and its impact on production, reporting findings to the manager.
Verify job completion before breaking down machines and setting up new jobs. Communicate with the data center regarding hot jobs and bindery needs.
Comply with company rules, regulations, and procedures, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive data. Recommend methods to reduce cost and improve operating efficiency.
Keep manager/supervisor informed of activities impacting corporate or department goals. Perform additional duties as required to achieve departmental and company objectives.
Requirements
Two years of college plus 3-5 years of experience as a supervisor in a lettershop environment or equivalent.
Ability to communicate with all levels in a culturally diverse work environment.
Ability to motivate personnel to perform at a quality level while applying discipline consistently and fairly.
Knowledge of computers.
Good analytical ability.
Required Work Hours
Monday to Friday, during the 2nd shift.

Additional Details
Max Pay: $80,000 per year
Min Pay: $70,000 per year
