General Description:
Work under Sr. Technicians and upper management to perform required work task in relation to rubber lining installation. Performs general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, moving materials, sandblasting, cleaning, coatings application, and preparation/installation of rubber lining. Assists a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Essential Functions:
1. Learn and become proficient in use of all necessary tools to complete job task
2. Operate all sandblasting/rubberlining equipment
3. Loading/unloading, lifting and moving of materials on site.
4. Responsible for good housekeeping practices on jobsite and in the shop.
5. Adheres to all applicable safety standards
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Cross-train with other departments as needed.
2. Participates in other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Position RequirementsMinimum Experience, Education, and Licensure:
1. High School Diploma.
2. Valid Driver’s License.
3. Valid TWIC – OSHA card.
4. Able to gain access to customer jobsites
Preferred Technical Skills and Abilities
1. Proficient at substrate preparation, coatings application, rubber preparation, and rubber installation. This includes:
a. Removal of old/damaged rubber lining through various means of chipping hammers, multi-tools, etc.
b. Experience with running and/or operating sandblasting equipment
c. Basic knowledge of the data included in ASME/ASTM as it relates to substrate preparation and rubber installation.
d. Basic knowledge of the properties and application of coatings through various means (brush and roll, spray, etc).
e. Knows and understands the equipment in a way that enables him/her to ensure the integrity of the equipment and troubleshoot issues that may arise.
f. Basic understanding of the use of skive machines to cut rubber panels/patches accurately.
g. Basic understanding of the means / methods of the installation of rubber lining to tank walls/floors, nozzles, and flanges.
h. Competent at ensuring quality of installed liner.
i. Competent at taking measurements and ensuring plumb/square dimensions.
j. Basic understanding of means / methods of curing unvulcanized rubber lining.
