Primary Function: Receive parts and supplies, move and stock material, dispatch and expedite, perform kitting of parts, pull parts from stock and prepare for shipment. Tools & Equipment: Power and hand truck, skid, hoist, cranes, production documents, computer and other general office equipment, storage bins and racks, hand tools, scales, packaging equipment, locomotive, crawler, semi-truck.
Principle Duties and Responsibility
Employees may be required to perform one or more of the following functions as assigned:
"Trucking" Functions Operate power and hand trucks to transport material within assigned area, utilizing safe methods to prevent damage to material and injuries to others.
Direct movement of and/or move rough, semi-finished or finished material or parts to/from production and stocking areas, machines, inspection areas, plant yards and place material in proper location.
Load and unload trailers as required.
Routinely check equipment to insure proper maintenance and repair.
Perform pick-ups and deliveries of mail, stationery stores orders, parcels, etc., inside or outside plant using company van or truck when assigned.
"Dispatching" Functions Follow established procedures, performing the dispatching and expediting of jobs and movement of material.
Arrange and maintain shop schedules.
Dispatch jobs as required by scheduling performing such duties as hand out jobs to operators from job rack; keep jobs lined up in rack according to due dates and shortage dates; keep a cross-index file on jobs current; place returning jobs in rack for following operation; note a delivery date of jobs from a department on job cards and file cards in a delivery file.
Give job information to personnel over telephone and to Team Coordinator.
Assist supervision in locating or expediting jobs.
Line up E&D and scrap tickets for reorder and rework.
Process job reissues as required.
"Stockroom" Functions
Receive verbal instructions and work from written kit lists when putting up orders.
Perform job duties such as put-up engine assembly kits including all parts of the subassemblies both purchased and manufactured.
Put up tool kits. Check kits for shortages.
Check incoming stock for parts required by "short" kits.
Maintain records on incoming and outgoing stock.
Input a variety of required information on computer system.
Place stock in proper location. Chase stock shortages as requested.
Preserve parts as required.
Order and maintain stock of small hardware supplies such as nuts, bolts, etc.
Replenish parts or supplies in Kanban areas as signals are received.
"Receiving" Functions Receive all materials coming into the facility including such duties as unloading, checking all items against packing slips, preparing receiving reports.
Dispatches or delivers items to the appropriate department.
"Packing/Shipping" Functions Prepare and expedite the packaging and shipment of commercial, government, nuclear and export parts orders.
Ensure packing is in accordance with customer requirements such as government mil-specs.
Prepare necessary paperwork and shipping documents.
Maintain inventory of packaging materials.
"Order Clerk" Functions Using the computer system, release process documents and engineering change orders to the appropriate production departments.
"Cycle Counting" Functions Perform the counting of parts as required in the initial step in the cycle counting procedure.
Perform other related assignments as directed.
May be required to lift medium weight by hand, heavier lifts made with crane, hoist, fork truck, etc.
Perform a variety of transactions within Oracle to document work performed within assigned work area.
May be required to operate locomotive, crawler, or semi-truck within plant to move engines or other large equipment and parts.
