Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

The Assistant Director of theAcademic Achievement Center (AAC) is a central leadership position within adynamic and student-centered community. The ideal candidate will have extensiveprofessional experience and a strong commitment to supporting student successin a community college setting. This role involves overseeing the day-to-dayoperations of the center, managing peer tutoring programs, supervising testingservices, and working closely with the Director to deliver high-qualityacademic support services that meet the needs of MassBay's students. TheAssistant Director will play a key role in promoting a student-centeredenvironment and supporting academic achievement for a wide range of learners.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist with day-to-day operations and administrative tasks within the AAC;
Assist in managing the AAC’s budget and resource allocation as directed by the Director;
With the Director, oversee the professional development and performance evaluation of AAC staff;
Hire, supervise and maintain the peer tutoring and supplemental instruction programs, including supervision of the Supplemental Instruction Coordinator, recruitment of students and ongoing professional development;
Collaborate with administration, staff, and faculty across the College as needed to provide support and growth for peer tutoring and supplemental instruction programs in line with the College’s mission and strategic plan to provide support for all students;
Oversee the administration and coordination of testing services, including Accuplacer, make-up testing, challenge exams and other exams as may be integrated (including TEAS, CLEP, etc.);
Ensure that testing services are efficient and secure and meet student, faculty, and College needs;
Collaborate with Admissions to work with high school guidance counselors in offering transition-to-college sessions for local high school students and preparatory workshops for placement;
Participate and provide leadership for committees as assigned, department meetings, and district-level activities when appropriate;
Support MassBay’s commitment to the College’s strategic initiatives to support all students;
Support MassBay’s commitment to embracing a community free of bias;
Contribute to discussion and review of applicable College policies and practices to support all students;
Engage with all offices at the College on issues related to student success;
Ensure academic support services are accessible, equitable, and responsive to student needs;
Perform other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree with three year’s professional experience in a relevant field, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of six years’ professional experience in a relevant field;
Minimum of three years’ experience in a managerial role that includes direct staff supervision;
Demonstrated effectiveness in communication, organizational, interpersonal, and technological skills to effectively manage and perform the above tasks and responsibilities;
Ability to create and conduct effective programming for students with diverse abilities and needs;
Ability to establish productive working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a relevant field;
Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
Experience working in a diverse environment;
Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
Experience working in a community college environment;
Experience teaching and/or tutoring students at the post-secondary level;
Knowledge of PeopleSoft (Bay Navigator), EAB, Blackboard (Blackboard Ultra) or their equivalent systems;
Ability to exercise sound judgment and use discretion in handling confidential information, such as that protected by FERPA;
Current knowledge of best practices in education at the post-secondary level.
