DuBois Chemicals is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Process Engineer to join our team at the Sharonville Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, operation, and continuous improvement of industrial processes aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, increasing sustainability, and maximizing profitability. A key focus will also be on ensuring the safety and quality of our operations. This role requires a proactive approach to process optimization, risk management, and data-driven decision-making. The position reports directly to the Sharonville Plant Manager and works closely with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to implement and improve manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Design & Optimization: Lead the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, and safety while ensuring alignment with control plans and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to address risk and drive process stability.
Risk Management & Control Plans: Develop, implement, and maintain control plans in coordination with FMEAs to mitigate risks and ensure processes are well-controlled and compliant with safety and quality standards.
Process Mapping & Analysis: Apply process mapping techniques (e.g., value stream mapping, SIPOC diagrams) to identify areas for improvement and optimize workflows for increased efficiency and reduced waste.
Time Studies, MTM Calculations, Ergo Assessments: Utilize industrial engineering principles to conduct time studies, Methods-Time Measurement (MTM) calculations, and ergonomic assessments, assessing productivity and work standards to continuously improve safety and operational performance.
Plant Layout Updates: Update and maintain plant layouts in CAD to accurately reflect the locations of equipment, infrastructure, and production lines, ensuring that any changes to layout are properly documented and aligned with operational requirements.
Continuous Improvement: Champion process improvement initiatives using lean methodologies, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and minimize production costs.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with plant leadership, manufacturing engineers, quality teams, and maintenance personnel to integrate new technologies, equipment, and processes, ensuring smooth implementation and alignment with organizational goals.
Data Monitoring & Statistical Analysis: Analyze and interpret production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities. Use statistical tools to drive data-based decisions and optimize processes.
Performance Metrics & Reporting: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop reports that document process performance, improvements, and areas for further development. Communicate findings and recommendations to all levels in the organization.
Simulation & Strategy Testing: Leverage process simulation tools to model different production strategies, optimizing for both cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Compliance & Safety Standards: Ensure adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices, driving a culture of safety and operational excellence.
Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with the Plant Manager, Maintenance team, Operations team, and other supervisors to ensure process improvements are successfully implemented and sustained across the plant.
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to interpret data and make informed, data-driven decisions.
Industrial Engineering Expertise: Deep knowledge of industrial engineering principles, including time studies, MTM calculations, and process optimization techniques.
Process Mapping & Lean Methodologies: Proficient in process mapping (e.g., value stream mapping) and lean tools to identify areas for process improvement and eliminate inefficiencies.
Risk Management & Control Plans: Expertise in developing and maintaining control plans in conjunction with FMEAs (or other risk management tools), ensuring proactive risk management and mitigation strategies.
CAD Layout Expertise: Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) to update and maintain plant layouts, ensuring that equipment, infrastructure, and production lines are accurately represented and aligned with production needs.
Effective Communication & Influence: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive change.
Mechanical Aptitude: A hands-on understanding of mechanical systems and equipment, with the ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain production systems.
Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence change, even without direct authority, while maintaining strong professional relationships.
Process Simulation & Technology Skills: Proficient in process simulation tools (preferred), CAD software (preferred), and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with process engineering software is preferred.
Compliance & Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with health, safety, and quality regulations within manufacturing environments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related field).
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in process engineering or related fields, with hands-on experience in process design, optimization, and continuous improvement.
Proven track record in applying industrial engineering principles, including conducting time studies and MTM calculations to assess and improve work standards, preferred but not required.
Experience with CAD software for updating plant layouts, preferred but not required.
