Serves as an Assistant Business Officer in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences (CECAS) Business Office. Under the direction of the Chief Business Officer (CBO), performs complex college-level accounting duties, leads college financial staff, and serves as backup to the CBO. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Financial Lead & Training: Supervises the CECAS Financial Business Managers team. Responsible for hiring, training, and on-boarding for all CECAS accountants and continues to train on new processes. Manages the CECAS training guide and adds new information as needed. Completes internal audits on departmental accounting transactions and workbooks. Provides direction and leads complex budget plans with each department chair and faculty within, and assists in strategic initiative implementation. Exercises independent judgment and/or decision making, with regard to establishing training resources CECAS-wide for financial staff.
30% - Essential - Budget Planning, College Financial Management & Communication: Assists the CBO in completing the annual college budget. Assists with financial transactions between the college and departments and communicates financial documents associated with the transfers. Analyzes all CECAS revenue reports and distributes revenues across departments. Prepares complex accounting reports and presents financial data to the CBO. Advises on policy updates and implementation. Distributes college- and university-wide information as needed. Exercises independent judgment and/or decision-making with regard to financial allocations. Presents budget strategies and opportunities to the CBO and CoS (Chief of Staff) for review and collaboration.
25% - Essential - APF & Department Financial Management: Maintains the budgets for APF and all assigned department(s), including complex off-campus units within CECAS. Manages and directs the preparation and reconciliation of accounts. Collects data and enters all financial transactions related to the assigned departments. Collaborates with departmental leadership on budget plans and provides updates on a regular and consistent basis. Serves as back-up to departments during accountant position vacancies.
5% - Essential - HR Position & Startup Management: Assists the CBO in the creation and processing of hiring commitment forms for faculty and staff, review of offer letters to ensure financial accuracy, and communication of the final letters and commitment forms to the departments. Assists the CBO in transfer of annual CECAS startup commitments.
