We are seeking an experienced Azure API Technical Lead to join our IT department. This role will focus on leveraging Azure API Management and related tool sets to enhance our systems integration capabilities within the commercial insurance domain. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of API design, development, and management.


Principle Duties / Responsibilities


• Leadership & Strategy:

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of APIs using Azure API Management and related tools and technologies.

• Define best practices and standards for API development and management.

• Collaborate with stakeholders and the IT Architecture Team to align API strategy with business goals and objectives.

• Technical Expertise:

• Design and develop scalable and secure APIs that meet the needs of various business units.

• Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to team members on API development best practices.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to API performance and integration.

o Strong knowledge of integration patterns, standards, and best practices.

o Hands on proficiency in Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure API Management, Azure Event Grid, and other Azure integration services.

o Experience in using Azure DevOps, Git, and other tools for integration development and deployment.

o Understanding/Experience with designing apps/API's using Clean Architecture concepts.

• Collaboration:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and business analysts, to understand integration requirements.

• Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather requirements and provide technical guidance.

• Monitoring & Optimization:

• Implement monitoring solutions to track API performance and usage.

• Analyze API usage data to identify areas for optimization and improvement.

• Ensure APIs adhere to security standards and compliance requirements related to best practices and the insurance industry.

• Documentation & Training:

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for APIs, including specifications, user guides, and operational procedures.

• Provide training and support to developers and end-users on API usage and best practices.

Qualifications

• 
  Education:
  

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

• 
  Experience:
  

• 5+ years of experience in API development and management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

• Proven experience working with Azure API Management and related Azure services.

• 
  Technical Skills:
  

• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, SOAP, JSON, XML, and API security protocols (OAuth, JWT, etc.).

• Proficiency in programming languages such as C# .NET, Java, and Python.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices and tools.

• 
  Soft Skills:
  

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
