Salary: $75,000.00 USD Annually - $85,000.00 USD Annually

Description:
A leader of their industry and continually growing food manufacturer is seeking a Safety Manager in their Lebanon, IN area location. This person is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment within a manufacturing setting. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, regulatory requirements, and best practices in occupational safety. The Safety Manager will proactively identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• 
  Safety Program Development and Implementation:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to the specific hazards of the manufacturing environment.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
    
    
    
    
    
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire orientations and ongoing refresher courses.
    
    
    
    
    
  • Implement and manage a robust incident investigation and reporting process, analyzing data to identify root causes and prevent future occurrences.
• 
  Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay up-to-date on all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, EPA regulations, and other relevant safety requirements.
  • Prepare and submit required safety reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.
  • Manage and maintain safety data sheets (SDS) and other safety-related documentation.
• 
  Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment:
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards associated with manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement effective control measures, including engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments to identify and address potential musculoskeletal hazards.
• 
  Emergency Preparedness and Response:
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including fires, chemical spills, and medical emergencies.
  • Conduct regular emergency drills and exercises to ensure employee preparedness.
    
    
    
    
    
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related emergencies.
• 
  Safety Culture Promotion:
  • Foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization by promoting employee engagement and participation in safety initiatives.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to communicate safety information and address employee concerns.
  • Recognize and reward employees for safe work practices.
  • Work with all levels of the organization to maintain a safe and healthy work place.
• 
  Manufacturing Specific Duties:
  • Experience with Lock Out/Tag Out Procedures (LOTO).
  • Experience with machine guarding.
  • Experience with powered industrial truck safety.
  • Experience with working at heights, and fall protection.
  • Experience with handling hazardous materials.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and associated hazards.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational skills.
