We are seeking a full-time Process Engineer 2 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the implementations of Smart Factory initiatives and other leading-edge technology related to electronics manufacturing.
The Board Assembly Development Team is responsible for the implementation of Smart Factory initiatives that are designed to maximize efficiency and expand our vertically-integrated automation solutions on a global scale. Team members collaborate with stakeholders from the different business segments in an effort to align on best practices and to ensure each implementation is robust, reliable and fully supported.
Essential Functions
Lead and manage all Smart Factory project activities through strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
Collaberate with global stakeholders on project definition, design requirements, timeline, and implementation strategy
Attend continuous improvement meetings and serve as a member of Kaizen teams
Assess factory associates for certification to a process
Develop designed experiments for process and quality improvements
Analyze processes for quality improvements and provide justification for purchases
Demonstrate excellent communication skills in collaboration with vendors that produce custom parts or equipment
Analyze data to determine quality trends, find technical root causes and implement corrective actions for given problems
Design custom tooling as needed for specific applications
Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
Serve as a mentor to less experienced process engineers (Process Engineer 1)
Apply a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion and participate in recruiting activities as assigned
Ability to travel domestically and internationally on occasion
Cleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Computer Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrates full use of industry standards and procedures
Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge in use of engineering tools
Demonstrates use of Lean techniques in process development
Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Previous work or internship experience in a manufacturing environment
Six Sigma Certification
Previous experience with AS9100 and NADCAP
Demonstrated Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
