Position Title: Assistant Librarian (Science and Research Impact Librarian)

Description Clemson University Libraries seek two service-focused, collaborative, and innovative librarians to join our team as Science and Research Impact Librarians. These positions will serve as direct liaisons to select departments within the College of Science (COS) and the College of Engineering, Computing, and Applied Sciences (CECAS), providing research assistance, instruction, and outreach to students, faculty, and staff. They will collaborate with the Graduate School, Honors College, and Creative Inquiry program to connect students to library experts and services that meet their needs at all stages of the research life cycle. In addition, the successful candidates will develop and support research impact services across academic disciplines. These are 12-month tenure-track faculty positions in the Teaching, Learning, & Research division and work under the direction of the Head of Teaching & Learning Department.Responsibilities include:Research Engagement & Collaboration: • Provide general reference service as well as in-depth research support and consultations to faculty and students in designated departments in the Colleges of Science and Engineering, Computing, and Applied Sciences.• Connect faculty and students with information and resources to support all aspects of the research lifecycle.• Selects print and electronic materials for library collections in the sciences and works with Science Team librarians to determine shared collection purchases and priorities.• Develop partnerships and programming with campus programs, including the Graduate School, Honors College, and Creative Inquiry.• Engages in professional development such as attending conferences, workshops, and webinars related to job functions.Instruction and Outreach:• Design and teach workshops and course-related library instruction sessions, both inperson and online, to develop students' information and AI literacy skills.• Create and maintain library research guides (LibGuides), instructional materials, and online tools to support student and faculty research.• Provide instruction and support for citation management tools such as EndNote.• Work with Science Team and Open Scholarship librarians to coordinate library research services.Research Impact Services:• Develop and support research impact services across academic disciplines, using bibliometric data sources (e.g., Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar) for citation tracking and analysis.• Evaluate and recommend research analytics tools.• Conduct workshops and training sessions for faculty on research impact tools and best practices.Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities: • Develop a focused program of high-quality research and creative accomplishments, consistent with professional responsibilities and the Libraries’ mission and goals.Service: • Actively participate and demonstrate leadership in professional responsibilities that serve the Libraries, University, profession, and community. Salary and Benefits:Faculty rank and minimum salary of $62,500 based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. Various medical plans, dental plans, and retirement plans are available. 18 days annual leave, 15 days sick leave, 13 paid holidays, and liberal professional development leave are provided. Library faculty receive an individual stipend for travel or other professional development activity.Location: Clemson University is a major, land-grant, science and engineering-oriented Carnegie Research One university in a college town setting along a dynamic Southeastern corridor. Qualifications Required Qualifications:• American Library Association (ALA)-accredited graduate degree in library or information science, or a foreign equivalent as determined by ALA-recommended procedures.• Experience as an academic, science or engineering librarian, including teaching or assisting students, faculty, or researchers.• Experience using research databases used in STEM disciplines such as Web of Science, Engineering Village, or SciFinder.• Strong skills in oral, written, and interpersonal communication.Preferred Qualifications:• Experience using bibliometric data sources (Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, etc.) and digital identifiers to provide research impact support and training.• Knowledge of scientific databases, research methodologies, and bibliometric tools.• Experience with outreach to campus departments and student organizations.• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
