JOB DESCRIPTION



Position Overview:


We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Area Chief Engineer to oversee the engineering and maintenance operations of multiple hotel properties. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring all properties meet high standards for safety, cleanliness, and functionality while maintaining efficient operations. This role requires a proactive leader with exceptional technical skills, a strong understanding of hotel facilities, and the ability to manage and lead a diverse engineering team across multiple locations.


Key Responsibilities:



Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, manage, and develop engineering teams at each hotel property.
  • Ensure proper staffing and training to maintain a high level of technical performance.
  • Implement standard operating procedures to ensure team efficiency and consistency across all locations.

Facility Maintenance & Safety:

  • Oversee daily maintenance operations at all properties, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, fire safety, and general upkeep.
  • Ensure the maintenance of hotel facilities to meet safety, cleanliness, and comfort standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all properties to identify areas for improvement and prevent potential issues.

Budget Management:

  • Assist in developing and managing annual maintenance budgets for each property, ensuring that spending aligns with financial goals and priorities.
  • Track and control expenses related to repairs, replacement, and maintenance projects.
  • List and track status of major capital expenditures related to property infrastructure.

Project Management:

  • Oversee property level renovation or repair projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Manage vendor relationships for outsourced maintenance or specialist services.
  • Coordinate with other departments to minimize disruptions during work or renovations.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with all local and national codes, regulations, and hotel policies related to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment warranties, and inspection reports.
  • Provide regular reports to hotel management on the condition of properties, maintenance issues, and improvement plans.

Emergency Response & Troubleshooting:

  • Act as the lead point of contact during emergency maintenance or repairs.
  • Be available for on-call support to respond to urgent needs at any of the properties.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in hotel engineering or facilities management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing multiple properties or locations.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) and safety regulations.
  • Ability to manage budgets, vendor contracts, and projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Availability for on-call or emergency situations, with a flexible schedule.
