The Buyer / Planner II (BPII) forecasts and plans capacity requirements to ensure alignment with Manufacturing and Sales. BPII will determine variance from production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand. Plans, measures, and monitors operating limits and capacities of an organization. Being a BPII coordinates with internal stakeholders to understand and develop current and forecasted plans. Identifies and troubleshoots production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity. In addition, BPII utilizes manufacturing data and reports to drive key insights into efficiency, production rate, and other performance metrics. Produces reports that evaluate plant capacity and identify areas needing improvement. Recommends process and equipment improvements to optimize production capabilities.

B/PII is responsible for aligning with production schedule requirements taking into account capacity, lead time, transportation, phase in/phase out of packaging materials, quality testing timelines, safety stock, and general supply chain planning parameters.
There is a materials management component to address shortages, excess, and obsolete materials. Supports S&OP process from a supply, capacity, and inventory perspective. Prepares short term production schedules as well as long term capacity and supply plans to support customer on-time deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Act as the central point of communication between Procurement, Production, QA, R&D, and Logistics to ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, and resource availability.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to address production constraints, resolve scheduling conflicts, and meet customer needs.
Partner with QA and R&D to coordinate production for new product launches or process changes, ensuring smooth integration into manufacturing schedules.
Material Coordination:
Collaborate with the Procurement team to ensure timely availability of raw materials and packaging supplies.
Resolve material shortages or delays by working closely with suppliers and internal teams.
Capacity Planning:
Analyze production capacity and labor availability to ensure feasible schedules are developed and executed.
Propose solutions to address capacity constraints or bottlenecks in collaboration with production leadership.
BOM & Data Accuracy Management:
Create and update BOMs to ensure they accurately reflect materials, quantities, and production requirements.
Work with R&D, QA, and Procurement teams to include updates from new products, process changes, or material substitutions.
Audit BOMs regularly to ensure they match current production processes and material specifications.
Keep production schedules and material requirements in SAP accurate to support better procurement and inventory management.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Track and report production performance metrics, including schedule adherence, efficiency, and downtime.
Proactively identify deviations from plans and collaborate with teams to develop corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive initiatives to improve scheduling efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize workflows.
Work with cross-functional teams to enhance planning processes and integrate best practices.
Qualifications
2-5 years of experience in a highly regulated industry doing production planning, with a proven track record of successful cross-functional collaboration. (pharmaceutical, aerospace, medical device, etc.)
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field and minimum of years of directly related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Solid understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
Material Review Planning (MRP) knowledge required
APICS CPIM and or ISM Certified preferred
Basic knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100 strongly preferred
Greenbelt Lean Manufacturing 6 Sigma certificate or equivalent training preferred
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/ Kaizen preferred
Intermediate to advance knowledge of Microsoft Office applications tools: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
