The Provost and Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success is responsible for the leadership and vision of teaching, learning, and student success at the College. Guided by a focus on quality, equity, and student success, the Provost and Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success uses data and takes a collaborative approach to providing strategic leadership and direction to inspire an innovative and holistic learning environment.


The President delegates authority to the Provost and Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success to carry out the following responsibilities:


Provide leadership for all areas of teaching, learning, and student success, including establishing priorities and goals aligned with implementing the College's strategic plan.


Provide leadership and direction for all areas of student services, including advising, counseling, student life and engagement, athletics, and co-curricular programs. The Provost and Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success will serve as an advocate for the complete and holistic student experience and collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to lead the development of equitable policies and practices.


Provide leadership and direction for all academic programs, curriculum, assessment, and faculty engagement and development. The Provost and Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success oversees all credit, non-credit, transfer, and workforce programs.The Provost and Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success will collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to ensure the currency of programs and instructional methods.


Develop partnerships that define Waubonsee as the Community's College, including partnerships with educational institutions, businesses, industries, and community-based organizations


The Provost and Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success will ensure a process of continuous improvement to maintain programs, methods, and processes that provide students, staff, and faculty with the tools and resources needed for success.


Work collaboratively with the faulty and Faculty Council to build and maintain a productive, professional, and mutually respectful relationship that positively advances the College's priorities.


Promote and support innovative teaching and learning practices for full-time and adjunct faculty which includes enhancements to flexible delivery methods, experiential learning, competency-based instruction, and other high impact instructional practices.


Ensure close collaboration between all areas under the Provost and Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success's purview to facilitate the seamless coordination of the complete student experience from first point of contact through completion.


Actively engage within the Waubonsee Community College district to ensure relevance of programs and services.


In collaboration with the other Vice Presidents, advise the President in matters pertaining to the transformational direction of the college.


Maintain compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements and provide leadership and recommendations for personnel issues related to hiring, retaining, tenure, non-tenure, and performance evaluations for employees under the Provost and Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success's purview.


Serve as a member of the President's Executive Leadership Team and Cabinet, and other relevant committees and task forces.


Oversee the allocation of resources for teaching, learning, and student success.


Ensure that state, federal, and local rules, regulations, and contracts as they apply to the unit are met.


Maintain liaison with designated governmental agencies and offices such as ICCB, ISBE, IBHE, and HLC.


Represent the college at designated governmental, professional, and community organizations.


Perform other duties as assigned by the President.



Minimum Qualifications



Earned graduate or professional degree in a related field from an accredited institution required. Doctorate strongly preferred.


A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education at the Dean level or higher, with 10 years of experience preferred, and a minimum of five years of leadership experience required.


Experience in teaching/training at the post-secondary level, student success strategies, budget management, curriculum and program development, data informed decision-making, and community engagement required.


Demonstrated competency in communications, team building, collaboration, change management, and digital literacy required.


Experience with collective bargaining, working in a community college, and accreditation standards are desired.


Demonstrated success working in diverse environments and promoting belonging for all students, customers, and employees.


A demonstrated commitment to open access institutions and the transformative role community college's play in society.
