Basic Job Functions:
The Safety and Health Coordinator will provide professional support to improve and sustain the industrial health and safety of all teammates. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintaining and reporting safety data-KPI statistics, training, compliance records, confidential records, safety management system, etc.
Working with state and federal safety regulations
Participating in safety focus teams, Voluntary Protection Partnership (VPP) Programs, implementing best practices
Analyzing compliance and auditing safety efforts
Coordinating, scheduling, tracking and/or delivering department/division training to include new hire orientation
Developing safe job analysis/procedures
Maintaining department webpage, digital signage and monitors
Coordination of company security, emergency response, loss prevention
Creating/deactivating badges for teammates and contractors
Coordinating duties of Security Company at gate entrances
Communicating safety items (flyers, alerts, etc.)
Assisting with planning and coordinating company activities and events
Performing responsibilities of a trained Radiation Safety Officer
This position will be required to be on call.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree or equivalent experience in safety related field
Proficiency in use of computers and in use of Microsoft Office suite of programs
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering or related field
Previous safety experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP), Safety, Safety Management Systems. Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, IBIH & other regulatory standards, protocols & compliance in order to create policies & procedures.
Emergency Medical Technician license (NREMT or KYEMT-B)
