The Product Engineer is responsible for driving all aspects of the product design during the new product development phase as well as implementing changes to existing products throughout the entire Product Lifecycle. This position ensures that Ames products meet all industry standards & regulations as well as requirements set forth by the Organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive the development of innovative products that meet all Consumer Safety & Regulatory, Quality and Customer requirements set forth by the NPD Committee.
Drive all aspects of the design and product definition from Concept to Launch for assigned NPD Projects
Develop 3D CAD models, 2D Drawings, material and color specifications and part structures (EBOM, SBOM)
Create and refine physical concepts by leveraging internal rapid prototyping equipment or external resources
Work closely with local QA teams to ensure product meets all safety, regulatory, performance and quality requirements, leverage internal product testing capabilities or external Labs.
Work closely with the cross functional NPD team on establishing and adhering to project timelines and deadlines.
Actively participate in NPD Project Gate Reviews and various weekly Project Status meetings
Assist Packaging and Creative teams in developing packaging solutions for various channels.
Maintain a high standard of data accuracy and integrity through all aspects of NPD and Engineering Change processes.
Support Operational projects activities and deliverables as required.
Support future PLM /ERP implementations, data migrations and data accuracy improvement projects as required.
Leverage internal / external best practices to identify continuous efficiency improvement opportunities for Product Engineering and Product Management.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
1-5 years in consumer product design or new product introduction
1-5 years in project management in a high-volume manufacturing environment
1+ years experience with CAD / PLM / ERP or other engineering and enterprise software
Working knowledge of CAD applications, preferably CREO and SolidWorks other 3D modeling software is helpful
Working knowledge of PLM systems, PTC Windchill, Teamcenter etc.
Knowledge of various engineering disciplines and principles
Familiarity with Enterprise Systems such as Oracle, SAP, INFOR,.
Ability to tackle a problem by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach
Ability to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team
Ability to maintain a consistently high level of attention to detail
Ability to develop, sponsor, or support the introduction of new and improved methods, products, procedures, or technologies
Ability to anticipate the implications and consequences of situations and take appropriate action to be prepared for possible contingencies
Ability to develop and present new ideas and look beyond the standard solution
Ability to find a solution or to deal proactively with work-related problems
Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information
Certificates/Licensure
PMP preferred.
Travel Requirements
Primarily limited to local and domestic travel
