Job Description:

Essential Functions

  • Gains understanding of workflow, employee relations and processes through hands-on experience with production equipment and working with management team.   

  • Train within each department and observe experienced associates to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of departmental duties. 

  • Assists with managing a department and the supervision of hourly associates, training and orientation of new associates, and the scheduling of work for associates. 

  • Problem solving for the manufacturing areas - investigate and observe the point of problem, conduct tests, test hypothesis, recommend and implement corrections and improvements. 

  • Production, process and quality optimization - understands the needs of customers, internal and external, translating these requirements into product/process improvements and implementing changes in procedures and processes to support product development. 

  • Coordinates and directs projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities. Communicate with management and production staff to discuss project specifications and procedures. 

  • Monitors quality metrics and goals to drive quality improvement efforts. 

  • Ensures cost reductions and efficiencies utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, and parts, production equipment capabilities, and quality control methods. 

  • Assists management with the compiling, storing, and retrieving of production data and other recordkeeping duties. 

  • Serves as acting shift supervisor when needed. 

  • Ability to work any shift. 

  • Any other tasks assigned by management.

  • Must pass the Munzell Color Shade Test. 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses highly specialized lab equipment and standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers. The candidate is frequently exposed to noise, dust and various chemicals, and moving mechanical parts require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection and non-skid shoes.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, sit, walk, stand, and hear. This employee may be required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch and occasionally lift up to 25 Ibs.  Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. May be exposed to heat, flame, chemicals, and noises.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, and there are varying shifts.

Travel

This position requires up to 25% travel. Frequently travel inside the local area to other plant locations.

Required Education and Experience


  1. Bachelor’s degree.

  2. Strong Textile experience.

Preferred Education and Experience


  1. Master’s degree.

  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in dyeing/ finishing operations.

  3. A minimum of 1 year of experience in Nomex dyeing and finishing.
