The Role The Civil & Structural Designer will be responsible for design work supporting small facility-based projects in an active chemical manufacturing plant. The role involves meeting or exceeding the company's safety standards, complying with all company procedures and engineering practices, and working closely with project team members to achieve project success.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Key responsibilities:



  • Meet or exceed the company's safety standards.

  • Comply with all company procedures, engineering practices, and other standards.

  • Work closely and interact with project team members to achieve project success, including Plant Engineering Groups, Internal and External Design Contractors, Construction Contractors, and Maintenance Resources.

  • Read and fully understand all documents which describe the scope of work to be done, including Process Flow Diagrams and P&IDs, Plot Plans, Structural Plans & Elevations, and Vendor Drawings.

  • Provide Civil & Structural designs for capital and maintenance projects on schedule.

  • Perform field work and as-builts in industrial environments.

  • Responsible for tracking and complying with scopes, schedules, and budgets.

  • Design and drafting of civil/structural drawings and deliverable documents, including Structural Steel and Concrete foundations & Paving.

  • Assist Project Managers with estimating.

  • Provide field support during construction.

  • Check accuracy and quality of drawings developed by others as needed.

Expected:



  • 3-6 years of industrial experience working in the design field.

  • Chemical Manufacturing or Related Industry Experience is required.

  • Good communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience with the design of mechanical and electrical equipment in industrial facilities.

  • Experience with equipment placement and drawings verification (updates for "As-Builts").

  • Experience with field design.

  • Experience with scanning and data registration is a plus.

  • Understanding of how work/information flows between disciplines.

  • Able to wear required PPE.

  • Operate vehicles safely to job-site.

  • Climb ladders and stairs.

  • Field measurement work environment.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite.

  • Proficiency in MicroStation is desirable.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.


Other Information:



  • Permanent Full-Time Position with opportunities for Overtime.

  • Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship is required.

  • No Paid Relocation for this position.
