Wood is currently recruiting for a Lead Substation Engineer in Houston, TX to design electrical substations of 13kV Distribution to 500 kV Transmission.
Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week. Employing entity: Wood Group USA, Inc. Multiple positions available. Telecommuting permitted up to 100%. Candidate may reside and work anywhere in the U.S. Domestic travel required up to 20%.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing one-line diagrams, general arrangements and sections for major substation equipment, bus work, HV structures, associated hardware, grounding, controls and metering.
Designing station grounding grids, lightning protection, low voltage AC & DC systems and lighting layouts.
Preparing and reviewing engineering documents, calculations, and specifications.
Preparing and reviewing project scope(s), proposals, estimates, schedules, and budgets.
Assigning tasks and providing technical assistance to assigned personnel, as required.
Reviewing, checking and approving work output of assigned personnel, as required.
Providing project engineering and electrical discipline leadership, including interdisciplinary coordination and scheduling.
Monitoring budget and schedule for electrical scope of work and identifying scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process.
Traveling and visiting client sites from project definition through construction.
Leading projects from conception through construction and commissioning, including mentoring junior engineers and designers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field, and 6 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience.
Of the required experience, must have 6 years of experience in each of the following:
Working on Transmission and Distribution Utility or EPC organization designing substations;
Substation layout design and review;
Substation Protection & Control design and review; and
Substation design standards and codes, specifically IEEE.
Of the required experience, must have 4 years of experience in each of the following:
Engineering team management, including training and mentorship;
Client specific engineering and materials management tools; and
Managing project including controlling budgets, schedules, quality, and any changes (change control) that occur through the lifecycle of the project.
Of the required experience, must have 3 years of experience in substations studies, including grounding studies, protection and control studies.
