Heluna health is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to be the leading provider of program services and fiscal sponsorship for over 280 population health initiatives.  We are seeking a capable, motivated Senior System Administrator to take over all aspects of managing the configuration, maintenance and advancement of our computer systems. The Senior System Administrator works to ensure that our IT technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently using the latest technology to meet the business needs of the organization


The hourly range for the position is $47.47 to $52.75 per hour commensurate with experience.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


System Administration and Maintenance



  • Implement security policies. 

  • Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to users groups.

  • Implement the policies for the use of the computer system and network.

  • Troubleshoot problems reported by staff.

  • Monitor network communication.

  • Verify that peripherals are working properly.

  • Monitor system performance and maintain system efficiency.

  • Planning for and responding to service outages and other problems.

  • Monitor the system daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns.


Manage Upgrade and System Advancement



  • Evaluate, test and implement new peripherals and software 

  • Create system documentation and track issue resolution

  • Analyze and isolate issues.

  • Evaluate and make adjustment in system's performance as necessary.

  • Manage disaster recovery and data retention compliance.

  • Upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution.

  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.

  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services.


Servers / Data Center



  • Support LANs, WANs, network segments, internet, and intranet systems. 

  • Ensure network connectivity throughout the company’s LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.

  • Installing and configuring server software, hardware, security updates and patches.

  • Maintain network and system security, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems.

  • Administrate infrastructure, including firewalls, malware protection software and other processes.

  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.

  • Ensuring security and efficiency of IT infrastructure.

  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.


Planning



  • Analyze current system usage and make recommendations for future upgrade.

  • Stay alert for emerging technologies that can boost productivity and minimize downtime.

  • Plan, implement and manage IT system related projects.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS


Skill / Experience 



  • A minimum of 3 years of proven experience as system administrator or equivalent position.

  • Able to quickly diagnose and resolve problems. Figure out what is wrong and how best it can be fixed in a small amount of time.

  • Able to demonstrate resourcefulness in solving problems.

  • Have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users.

  • Familiar with a range of operating systems and platforms such as Microsoft, Unix, Linux, and Oracle Linux. 

  • Experience with desktop support and server infrastructure. 

  • Familiar with variety of virtualizations. 

  • Advanced knowledge of system vulnerabilities and security issues (e.g. intrusion detection systems).

  • Experience with networks LAN and WAN.

  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.

  • Project management experience in IT related implementation.

  • Excellent communication skills.


Education/Experience 



  • Associate or higher degree in a related field with bachelor’s degree in computer related discipline preferred.


Certificates/Licenses/Clearances



  • Professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) is a plus.


Other Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities



  • Project management certification or experience is a plus.
