SUMMARY: The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for providing a higher level of technical support to the Project Managers and with limited direction, will manage small to mid-size projects. The Assistant Project Manager interacts with the customer and field on a more regular basis and provides direction to Project Engineers as requested. This is an exempt position that is an individual contributor and may be temporarily positioned on a project site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assumes job duties and responsibilities of the Project Engineer II
Actively manage small to mid-size projects with limited oversight of a PM/Sr. PM/PX up to a certain dollar amount and risk level
Generate and quality control all aspects of project documentation including submittals, RFIs, change orders and project meeting minutes
Responsible for material requisition, submittal compilation, purchase orders, on-site job walks, negotiation of change orders, request for information, pay application support and close-out documents
Assist in directing overall project activities as assigned by the Project Manager including planning and coordinating, circumventing/resolving problem areas, ensuring all company/project policies, procedures and standards are maintained, etc.
Ensure that the project quality control plan is in effect and followed
Interacts with Subcontractors to make certain that we have obtained the correct documentation and drawings for the projects
Monitor other contractors’ activities and progress
Provides information to field on behalf of Project Manager as requested
Assume total project supervision responsibilities in Project Manager's absence
Provide technical support to the Project Manager and Superintendent, and act as the secondary point of contact with clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding status reports, updates, and addressing customer needs
Assist with the management of the bid process, analyze blueprints/specifications, review proposals/project requirements and coordinate materials procurement
Assist with bidding, conducting material take-offs, and soliciting quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
Attend pre-job walks and develop material lists and provide job site observations relative to obstructions, level of difficulty, and any information required to assist the estimator with the completion of a project estimate
Ensure compliance with corporate policies and federal/state laws; provide status updates and maintain documentation records
Assist with project delivery from pre-construction through commissioning, focused on achieving high quality, site safety, and aggressive schedules
Assist with negotiating subcontracts, subcontractor and vendor buyout, preparation and tracking of contracts and procurement of submittals and materials.
Assists PM and Superintendent with monitoring job costs and production versus budget. Under supervision of PM, provides inputs and submits accurate and timely monthly cost, income, cash flow projections, and generates client billings.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:
2 – 4 years of experience in an electrical project support role (Project Coordinator, Project Engineer, and/or Estimator)
Capable of managing an assigned portfolio of projects of low risk/value
Proven ability to analyze electrical terminology, drawings, theory, etc. is required
Successful graduation from an accredited electrical apprenticeship program, long-term experience in the electrical industry in a variety of capacities and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related degree
Ability and eagerness to learn new technology
Proficiency in MS Office / O365 applications
Proficiency in Procore (or related project management software) and Accubid Change Order (or related estimating software)
