Job Description:

The E.W. Scripps Company is hiring a Lead Paid Media Planner who will develop, implement and optimize strategic media plans that effectively promote our content, enhance our brand visibility, and drive audience engagement. With expertise in multi-platform audience growth and maximizing advertising campaign return on investment, market trends, and audience behavior, our media planners play a pivotal role in shaping our media campaigns and contributing to the company's overall success.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, creative, and programming, to develop comprehensive media plans that align with assigned business units’ marketing objectives and strategies.

  • Coordinate with insights team to identify target audiences, market trends, and competitive landscape, and uses insight to inform media planning decisions.

  • Utilize demographic, geographic, and psychographic data to define audience segments and tailor media strategies for maximum reach and impact.

  • Select appropriate media channels, including television, streaming platforms, digital advertising, social media, and more, based on target audience and campaign goals.

  • Recommend and negotiate media buys to secure optimal placements and rates while staying within budget constraints.

  • Work closely with the creative team to submit creative requests and specifications for campaigns and coordinates delivery to ensure that ad creatives meet the specifications and are delivered on time.

  • Track insertion orders and initiates payment through company purchasing system.

  • Create detailed media schedules, outlining when and where advertisements will be displayed, ensuring seamless coordination across media outlets.

  • Act as lead point person for all elements of digital and social paid campaigns, including setup, optimization and analysis for paid digital campaigns, including but not limited to Google Ads, Meta, Spotify and YouTube.

  • Monitor and analyze the performance of media campaigns, tracking key metrics to measure effectiveness and identify areas for optimization.

  • May mentor and train less experienced peers to foster development and ensure goals and initiatives are being met.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, showcasing campaign performance, insights, and recommendations.

  • May coordinate with programming department to identify and prioritize upcoming programming opportunities for promotion to distribution partners; Secures agreement to feature our brands across the distribution partner’s ecosystem.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovations in media planning.
     

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or related field or equivalent experience

  • Generally, 7+ years in media planning within the television, entertainment, or related industry

  • Hands-on experience managing multi-channel or cross-channel marketing campaigns

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:


  • Working knowledge of best practices for consumer acquisition and conversion with hands-on experience

  • Strong understanding of media platforms, trends, and audience behavior

  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and other common analytical tools

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to translate data into actionable insights

  • Understanding of content marketing, social media marketing, email marketing and paid media placement

  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative media strategies

  • Professional communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Negotiation skills

  • High motivation and passion for media work

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills

  • A collaborative team player

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
