Who we want… (Requirements)

NexGen Contracting is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator with a focus on concrete construction. This role is responsible for leading the estimating team in generating and reviewing RFPs, performing quantity take-offs, compiling cost estimates, and managing bid proposals. The Senior Estimator will also play a key role in mentoring junior estimators and supporting the Preconstruction Manager.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in concrete estimating.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (Procore, Bluebeam, CMiC, Sage Estimating, Planswift).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel between 10-15%, as required.

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

  • Lead the review and analysis of RFPs to determine company interest and pursuit strategy.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and develop accurate cost estimates for concrete projects.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors, ensuring accurate scope and cost comparisons.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive bid proposals and participate in bid review and pre-award meetings.
  • Support project turnover and assist with the transition from preconstruction to project execution.
  • Mentor and train junior estimators, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Preconstruction Manager to develop and refine estimating processes and tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may have supervisory responsibilities over the Estimator and Quantity Surveyor roles.
