Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:
Demonstrated knowledge of Engineering principles, various types of welding processes such as TIG and MIG.
Knowledge of wood working practices and use of common wood working equipment.
Familiar with materials processing techniques such as milling, drilling, turning, and CNC machining.
Basic AC and DC theory.
Proficiency in CNC technologies including but not limited to Waterjets, Fiber Lasers, Plasma Cutters, Routers, 3-axis Mill, 5-axis Mills and Mill/Turn Lathe.
Demonstrated ability to read and understand schematics, block diagrams, and wiring diagrams; mechanical drawings, flow charts, and service manuals.
Experience using various CAD software packages such as AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS to create 2D and 3D working drawings.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to #90.
Capable of working in hot, dusty, noisy, and hazardous environments.
Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite to create documents, spreadsheets, and various types of reports.
Knowledge and proficiency in 3D printing technologies including SLA, FDM/FFF, Composite and PolyJet.
Bachelors of Science in Engineering or Equivalent Work Experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. of Science in Engineering or M.S. of Science in Engineering.
Background in engineering, design, and technology, including but not limited to working with laser cutters, 3D printers, CNC routers, other computer-aided design equipment, and fundamental tools for working with wood, electronics, metal, and other materials.
Two years of experience operating CNC machine tools, including multiple types of controllers.
Proficiency in Fusion 360.
Experience working within a university environment.
Experience developing video training and script development.
Familiarity with .NET, WPF and Access Databases.
Experience programming in C#.
Familiar with computer imaging process and computer data management needed to develop computer images for the makerspace.
Familiar with CANVAS or other similar LMS.
Job Description:
Responsible for daily support of academic lab activities in the Ingram School of Engineering. Adhere to and enforce standards, processes, & requirements for lab/equipment safety.
Job Duties:
Provide academic equipment support to ME faculty, instructors, and students.
Ensure requested academic laboratory supplies are available and lab equipment is in working order.
Clean, build, rebuild, design, develop, inspect, install, maintain, plan, prepare, process, repair, and organize any and all aspects of ME academic laboratory and storage facilities.
Perform projects related to lab and infrastructure for the School.
Participate in inventory management processes for the School.
Process data, work requests, purchase requests, and workloads.
Assist in creating processes and standard operating procedures (SOP) related to labs, equipment, and safety issues.
Operate, train and maintain tools including the laser cutters, 3D printers, CNC machining, Welding, Woodworking equipment, Sheet metal working, robotics kits, electronics, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
Strictly enforces established shop safety rules, policies, and hazardous materials protocols including maintaining MSDS, SOPs and Emergency Plans.
Other duties as assigned.
