About the Learning Resource Center and the Office of Undergraduate Research & Studies
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) serves as the central undergraduate academic and undergraduate research support unit for the University of Massachusetts Amherst. At UMass Amherst's Learning Resource Center (LRC) and Office of Undergraduate Research and Studies (OURS), there are four different kinds of academic support and undergraduate research support available to students, including Supplemental Instruction (SI), Peer Tutoring (drop in and by appointment), Academic Success Coaching (ASC) and the Office of Undergraduate Research and Studies (OURS). The services are built-in campus resources, and they are completely free for UMass undergraduates. The LRC and OURS is proud to offer an array of resources to help support students in achieving their iteration of success at UMass Amherst.
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is the largest academic support program at the LRC. SI Leaders are exceptional students who have excelled in their respective courses, the students are hired, trained, supervised and mentored by the LRC to go back and provide academic support for the courses they excelled in. SI Leaders attend class and coordinate with faculty on content and hold twice a week review session for their peers, they also hold regular exam reviews, develop weekly worksheets and maintain their own LMS (Learning Management System) page. SI leaders also attend training sessions to develop facilitation and pedagogical skills. SI Leaders model successful student behavior and assist other students achieve academic success. The SI program serves 8,000+ students annually in 50,000K student visits.
Job Summary
The Clerk IV (SI Program Administrator) manages key operational aspects of the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program, including recruitment, hiring, training, and supervising the SI peer team. The Program Administrator also contributes to program and departmental data collection, LMS management, scheduling, room booking, payroll, budget reporting, and the development of strategies to improve access to academic resources. Additionally, they provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and consistent messaging of SI program goals and services.
