The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a 100% Medical Assistant II to work for Radiation Oncology. Radiation Oncology is dedicated to excellence in patient care. As a Medical Assistant, you'll be an integral part of our dynamic team, supporting healthcare professionals and ensuring top-quality service for our patients. Each day our clinic sees over 75 cases of varying complexity that covers the spectrum and severity of all types of cancer. We provide patient centered care delivered by a professional team of physicians, nurses, therapists, dosimetrists and physicists.
Duties to include:
Staff will support our Radiation Oncology patients.
Responsible for facilitating the smooth flow of patients through the clinic through interaction with patients, families, and staff.
Leads and ensures an efficient rooming process for patients, including but not limited to obtaining vital signs, patient history, medication records, allergies, and immunizations.
Assists in clinic with physical examination of patients and related treatments.
Supports management of internal and external medical records to ensure that accurate and complete data is available for patient appointments.
Obtains routine laboratory samples such as urinalysis and blood work, as needed.
Performs related clerical tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information to other departments.
Works closely with Central Sterile team to ensure delivery of reusable instruments for processing, accounting for return of all instruments to clinic, monitoring reports, and supporting organization of new instruments.
Stocks supplies, stocks rooms, and monitors expirations.
Daily, weekly, monthly audits.
Supports strong patient experience metrics by providing high quality and patient centered care.

Percent of Time: 100% Hourly: $19.21 to commensurate
Schedule: Day shifts - Monday - Friday. 0830 - 1700. No weekends, holidays, or call.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR
Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology (include educational transcripts during application process)
