Synopsis: The Threat Emulation Force (TEFOR) SME provides subject matter expertise supporting Army Futures Command (AFC) in the areas of Cyber, Maneuver, Fires, Aviation (fixed wing and rotary wing), Mission Command, Maneuver Support, Strategic Missile Defense, Special Operations, and Sustainment. The SME provides support to live and virtual wargames, studies, and experiments by conducting analysis of future threats and emulating threat actions to assists the Army in developing concepts and future force capability requirements. Duty is Part-Time-On-Call and all work requires travelBasic Functions: TEFOR is a critical support element to Army Futures Command's Directorate of Intelligence and Security, Future OE Division (FOED). FOED studies, designs, coordinates, and applies the Future Operational Environment (FOE) and emerging threats in support of Joint and Army concept and capability development, experimentation, requirements determination, and operational test and evaluation (OT&E). To accomplish this mission and core function, AFC DOIS, Threat Emulation (TEFOR) Branch ensures continuity of the FOE and threat narrative using DOD IC validated threat forecasts. The contractor will provide a highly qualified Fires Operations Subject Matter Expert in support of the TEFOR mission to understand, visualize, describe, emulate threat and Future OE conditions to reduce risk and prevent surprise out to 2040 and beyond.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Supports live and virtual wargames, studies, and experiments by emulating threat actions to assist the Army in developing concepts and future force capability requirements
Validates threat representation in modeling and simulation activities to ensure they comport with validated current and future threat capabilities and tactics
Inputs analysis results into simulation software and/or live planning events.
Brief results to Army Senior Leaders, as required
Leads other SMEs when required
Part time on-call
Minimum Requirements
Former Artillery field grade officer with 15 or more years of experience. Former O-5 or O-6 preferred.
Bachelor's degree at a minimum. Master's degree and MEL 4 equivalent, SAMS graduate and/or LNO experience is preferred.
Must have 2+ years experience using various Exercise/Experiment simulations and tools
Must possess the capability to support table-top, map-based wargaming, simulation-based experimentation, as well as Joint and Army warfighting assessments in the live/virtual environments
Must possess a thorough understanding of planning, integrating, and conducting staff action procedures, and operational aspects of concept and/or capability development work.
Possess computer literacy for on-line research and desktop office applications.
Must have a level of professional experience and skills to operate with minimal supervision
Must possess a TS/SCI clearance.
Desired Qualifications
Joint/Interagency/Intergovernmental/Multinational (JIIM) Exercise/Experiment Planning Experience or Joint/Service Test and Evaluation experience
CGSC or MEL 4 equivalent graduate
Senior Service College and/or SAMS graduate
Master's degree or higher
Conditions of Hire
U.S. Citizenship is required
Top Secret Clearance with SCI access.
Ability to travel via commercial ground/air transportation within CONUS
Former US Army/USMC Artillery Officer/Senior NCO to support US Army Wargaming
Available to travel for 2-3 weeks, 3-4 times a year
