Job Summary

Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Job Duties

  • Plans, implements, evaluates, and delivers patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Maintains clinical skills and competency through orientation, annual and ongoing education, and clinical practice.
  • Follows Tribal Health and client specific policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned and specified by clinical assignment and site.


Requirements:

  • Any unrestricted State License
  • Certifications required
    • BLS ACLS PALS
  • Experience requirements
    • 1 year in med-surg.
  • COVID vaccine required
    • Yes. Exemption will be considered.

Facility Overview/Details:

Zuni Comprehensive Community Health Center-12 B Avenue, Zuni, NM 87327

Specialty- Registered Nurse (RN)-Specialty: Inpatient Adult Medical/Surgical

  • Weekly schedule
    • Rotating 34.5 and 46 hours weekly. 1 hour lunch break Scheduling is a matrix scheduling of working Monday, Tuesday, off Wednesday Thursday and then working Friday Saturday and Sunday. Opposite days the following week.

    • How many beds? 15 Nurse to patient ratio? 5 patients: 1 RN

    • Federal forms, eQIP, etc.

    • 6-8 weeks
  • Support staff
    • EMR: RPMS

1. Initiate the nursing process for admitted patients. Assess, design, implement and evaluate nursing interventions. Follow through with planned nursing actions and patient education.

2. Carry out physician orders; administer medications, blood and/or blood by-products, oxygen, and a variety of treatments.

3. Manage a wide variety of therapeutic devices such as drainage, feeding and suction tubes also respiratory and electrocardiograph machines and other medical equipment and supplies.

4. Measure and assess vital signs, height, weight, and neurological status, effects of medication, visual acuity and hearing.

5. Provide direct patient care; assist patients with activities of daily living and ambulation.

6. Observe and document patient care provided changes in patient’s conditions, observations and other designated unit activities in the accepted format and form.

7. Collaborate and coordinate patient care with other health care providers and hospital staff.

8. Assign and direct the patient care provided by ancillary nursing staff.

9. Perform quality control for crash cart checks, lab checks, capillary blood glucose monitoring checks, etc.

10. Collect or assist in collection of specimens, i.e., blood, urine, stool, etc.

11. Recognize life-threatening emergencies, initiate and maintain resuscitation measures and other emergency Procedures as appropriate to the situation.

12. Recognize adverse reactions to medications, treatments, and procedures and initiate interventions as appropriate to the situation.

13. Answer and screen telephone calls, take off and initiate medical orders.
