Job Summary



The Associate Program Director provides operational management and oversight to team for the implementation of statewide chronic disease prevention and control activities of statewide health coalitions including but not limited to healthy weight, cardiovascular disease and diabetes and asthma, as well as other health initiatives that are part of the project.


Department-Specific Responsibilities


  • Integrates and helps manage the project membership.

  • Coordinates communications with and reporting to Indiana Department of Health and additional funders.

  • Oversees individual coalition metrics and assemble these data for quarterly reports.

  • Supervises coalition leads, project management coordinator, students, and interns.

  • Manages the project budget.

  • Manages communications and online engagement.

  • Leads community engagement efforts.

  • Assists each of the coalitions to synergistically implement the overall vision of reducing chronic diseases in Indiana; including teaming with Community Health Partnership staff in strategic planning, and managing the coordination of the coalitions, initiatives of Community Health Partnerships, All IN for Health, and other programs within the Indiana CTSI.

  • Manages collaborative implementation of the work of the health coalitions.

  • Strategically integrates efforts of the 3 coalitions and other project partnerships with other synergistic efforts within the Indiana CTSI; including grant and project proposal management from tracking progress towards promises to funders to looking ahead at future proposal requirements and needs for growth.

  • Identifies operational issues and/or areas of improvement and implement solutions to improve processes and/or operational efficiency.

  • Leads, guides, and supports project staff in working as a team to produce project objectives.

  • Leads staff team meetings (group and 1:1).

  • Analyzes, monitors, and evaluates performance of assigned staff; establishes work priorities, conducts performance reviews, and provides corrective action as needed.

  • Manages an inclusive network of members, Community Health Partnerships members and other stakeholders; including managing coalition or network wide events, conferences or meetings and managing communication efforts to all coalitions/partners via newsletters, social media, surveys and online engagement.

  • Develops, compiles, analyzes, and reports project performance metrics for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Prepares and manages project and grant budgets, including expense tracking.

  • Effectively integrates coalition leads with resources available through Community Health Partnerships, Indiana Department of Health, IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, community partners and the Indiana CTSI.

  • Establishes short-term operational objectives.

  • Identifies operational issues and/or areas of improvement and implements solutions to improve processes and/or operational efficiency.

  • Analyzes, monitors, and evaluates performance of assigned staff; establishes work priorities, conducts performance reviews, and provides corrective action as needed.

  • Ensures adequate staffing and effective scheduling; participates and informs employment decisions for assigned staff.

  • Provides direct supervision and oversight of assigned staff and activities; impacts, and is held accountable for, the performance of team and/or assigned staff.

  • Ensures and provides training to assigned staff to improve user support operations; researches and identifies development opportunities for assigned staff.

  • Keeps next-level leader(s) informed of trends as well as significant problems.

EDUCATION



Required



  • Bachelor's degree preferably in business, management or related field


Preferred



  • Masters degree in public health or other health-related field

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • 2 years of program management or related experience


Preferred



  • 5 years of experience working with a variety of health-related community organizations, academicians and clinicians

  • 3 years of supervisory and/or management experience

  • Experience in community engagement and outreach

  • Experience working with social and other media

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.


In-state travel is required.



Additional Information



This position is grant funded for 1 year with expected annual renewals. Renewals are contingent on the availability of grant funds.

This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
