Job Description:

Hays is partnering with an extremely reputable civil general contractor in New York City who is looking to add a Senior Estimator to their team. We have worked with this company for the last 8 years, and they have gone from 15 people to 90 people with incredible retention on staff. Their estimating team has been doing amazing work in scoring 2 different 250 million dollar projects, with one of them being a design-build project. They continue to bid on interesting and large projects to ensure every day you walk in is a new adventure.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project scope and requirements.

  • Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.

  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expenses.

  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and bid proposals for submission to clients.

  • Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.

  • Monitor and update cost databases and estimating software to reflect current market conditions.

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and presentations to clients.

  • Provide support during contract negotiations and project execution phases.

  • Mentor and guide junior estimators and other team members.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in civil engineering projects.

  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
