Job Summary:

Responsible for the planning and execution of the diving operations, including overall responsibility for personnel, safety, client liaison, logistics, work plan creation, all diving, and diving-related activities. Interfaces with clients on complex projects/contracts, allocates project resources and drives projects to completion on time and within budget. Ensures projects are executed in accordance with company policies and procedures, established health and safety protocols, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

Education, Certifications, and License Requirements:

· Diploma from ADCE Compliant Commercial Dive School

· Current ADCI supervisor certification

· Nitrox endorsement a plus

· Current ADCI Compliant Dive Physical

· Current First Aid, CPR, AED, Oxygen Administration Certifications

· OSHA 10 Hour – Construction

· Must have own commercial dive gear including (if diving): Dive Helmet, Dry Suit, Hot Water Suit, Weight Belt, Gloves, Thermals, Wet Suit, Dive Knife, Harness, and Bail-Out Bottle / Spares

· Valid Driver’s License with current driving record free from serious or frequent violation. Recommended to obtain Class “A” CDL permit within 60 days of hire

Experience:

· 5 years’ experience working in commercial diving operations.

· Experience working with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel with experience learning new computer software including tablet-based safety programs and job/project reporting.

Skills:

· Ability to cut and weld steel, using underwater welding/burning equipment, jigs, and supports.

· Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, mentor, and motivate teams.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills both with employees and clients.

· Able to maintain a positive and constructive demeanor in all situations.

Responsibilities:

· Ensure all work is carried out within the contract, within their area of specialism, in accordance with Ballard and Client HSE procedures.

· Effectively plan dive jobs and deploy all equipment needed in a timely manner for cost effectiveness.

· Ensure that all personnel arriving on the worksite are fully briefed about the work plan, dive systems, and operational and safety requirements and disciplines

· Actively monitor and control budgets and project expenditures within the business unit.

· Maintain quality controls for all operational activities in accordance with relevant standards and specification, as required by regional authorities.

· Ensure accurate completion of all job-specific, employee-related paperwork including timesheets, daily job reports, dive logs, JHAs, dive plans, and inspection results.

· Ensure that all relevant operating instructions, manuals, decompression tables, treatment schedules and regulatory publications are available at the dive location and are maintained to reflect current changes and/or developments.

· Ensure detailed briefings with the diving teams and support personnel, including identifying tasks to be undertaken and unusual hazards or environmental conditions.

Physical Demands / Working Environment:

· Performs physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

· Moves heavy objects (94 lbs. or more) short distances (20’ of less).

· Moves light objects (less than 94 lbs.) long distances (more than 20’).

· Works long shifts with non-standard break times.

· Travels and works for many weeks at a time away from home.

· Works in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.

· Lifts arms above shoulder level (i.e., lifts items into a truck or overhead area).

· Climbs ladders or steps to reach objects.

· Works at heights of up to 50’ or more.

· Works in confined or enclosed spaces.

· Sits or stands for long periods of time.

· Wears a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed boots, and other applicable PPE.

· Walks moderated distances to reach work area (1/2 mile or more).

· Sits in the operator’s seat of equipment and reaches all pedals, switches, levers, buttons, etc., required to safely operate the equipment.

· Sits in the operator’s seat of equipment and has an adequate field of vision of all instruments, gauges, warning lights, as well as an acceptable field of vision out of the windows/mirrors.

· Adequate hearing, enough to receive and understand instructions, be alerted by horns, sirens, shouting, or any other noise that is meant to convey a safety warning.
