Blue Cross of Idaho is seeking a Provider Network intern to join our Payment Innovation team Summer 2025. This opportunity will allow an intern to gain an understanding the provider landscape and the health insurance industry. The intern will have the opportunity to support the development of a program to support members in identifying and utilizing lower cost and high quality providers. This includes working with a multidisciplinary team (clinical and administrative) to develop metrics as well as create program material. The intern will also have an opportunity to engage with health systems to promote tools, increase education
This paid internship will be located at our corporate headquarters in Meridian, ID and may have some opportunity for hybrid work.
Minimum qualifications include:
Currently enrolled in a college or university, preferably a junior or senior standing student
Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint, email, etc)
Excellent communication skills
Attention to detail
Some healthcare experience/knowledge preferred
Ability to think creatively (i.e. creating one pagers)
Ability to interpret analytic reports and identify opportunities
You will learn to:
Develop program criteria which will support a statewide program to improve the quality of care and reduce costs for Idaho members
Develop program materials to include program overviews and PowerPoint presentations
Develop understanding of how provider performance and patient outcomes impact the overall cost of healthcare
Collaboratively work with provider partners to increase understanding of direct impact to cost and quality
Business process and project support to implement new initiative
