The Foreman ensures optimal productivity, adherence to schedules, and effective utilization of workers, equipment, and materials at job sites. This role directly supports Baker Electric’s profitability through leadership, planning, and execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Oversight and Execution
Ensure compliance with project specifications, job drawings, contract documents, and building codes.
Address specification discrepancies and conflicts in collaboration with the Superintendent and Project Manager.
Manage the change order process and review contract documents and submittals.
Strategically plan and execute work activities to optimize efficiency and minimize interferences.
Team Coordination and Training
Assign tasks based on workers’ strengths and provide necessary tools and materials to maximize productivity.
Manage and train job site crews, forecasting manpower needs and ensuring effective scheduling.
Process timesheets promptly and handle union-related discussions by escalating to the Superintendent as needed.
Quality Assurance and Safety
Inspect and evaluate work in progress to ensure quality standards and schedule adherence.
Promote safety practices, provide training, and enforce compliance with OSHA, company policies, and applicable laws.
Document and report workplace injuries and maintain an organized, safe job site.
Materials and Tools Management
Coordinate delivery schedules for materials and equipment to align with project timelines.
Resolve material issues (e.g., shortages, damages, backorders) by communicating with the Purchasing Manager, Superintendent, and Project Manager.
Oversee tool maintenance and ensure proper usage. Reconcile inventory and address issues with the Warehouse Manager.
Communication and Reporting
Maintain a daily log of job site activities, including delays, weather conditions, and crew size.
Provide regular progress updates to the Superintendent and address potential code or specification conflicts.
Submit RFIs (Requests for Information) as necessary.
Qualifications:
Certified General Journeyman Electrician – State of California.
OSHA 30, Electrical Safe Work Practices, and First Aid/Adult CPR certifications.
Successful completion of I.B.E.W. Apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5+ years as a Foreman in Electrical Utility-Scale Solar projects.
Proficiency with Microsoft applications and a valid California Driver’s License.
