The Carlyle Group seeks to hire an Associate within the AlpInvest Co-Investment team.
AlpInvest Partners Overview
AlpInvest Partners is one of the largest and well-established private equity investors globally, with over $100 billion committed to investments since inception and over $90 billion in AUM as of June 30, 2024. AlpInvest is wholly owned by The Carlyle Group and serves as the private equity multi-manager adviser within the Carlyle Investment Solutions business segment. AlpInvest Co-Investments Overview
AlpInvest's Co-Investment team invests directly in companies, partnering with lead financial sponsors across the globe to provide equity financing in private equity transactions and leveraged buyouts. Investments are made globally across all industries, market segments and buyout categories by a team consisting of 33 investment professionals located in New York, Amsterdam and Hong Kong.
The Co-Investment Program is designed to work alongside private equity GPs throughout the lifecycle of a deal. AlpInvest Partners engages early in the deal process and actively supports the lead financial sponsor underwriting a bid for a company in addition to acting as a supportive partner to help finance leveraged buyouts. The team has invested $17+ billion in over 400 transactions with 150+ private equity firms including Permira, Apollo, TA Associates, Advent, KKR, Symphony Technology Group, CVC Capital, TSG Consumer, Hellman & Friedman, Thoma Bravo, GTCR, Francisco Partners, Silver Lake and Littlejohn.
Responsibilities
Associates are key members of the investment team working directly with senior investment professionals. Key job functions include:
Applying critical thinking and judgement in the review of investment opportunities
Preparing investment proposals that summarize the analyses and diligence performed as well as the team's risk/return view and presenting that to the global team and firm's Investment Committee
Constructing detailed financial models, performing industry and competitive analysis, and conducting investment or financial analysis to complete due diligence requests
Monitoring of existing portfolio companies through interactions with GPs, review of financial information and participation in board meetings
Developing relationships with GPs through AGM/LPAC attendance
Preparing periodic investor updates and conducting analyses and support work in developing relationships with the Co-investment team's LP base and fundraising activities
Qualifications
Professional Experience
The target candidate will be trained Analysts/Associates with a minimum of 2 years of experience at an investment bank, private equity firm, management consulting or similar setting, with exposure to a wide range of transactions, valuation work and due diligence assignments. Successful candidates will be strong team players with the confidence to interact with all levels of the organization and ability to thrive in a fast-pace and entrepreneurial environment. The target candidate's background will include:
Familiarity with leveraged buyouts and other private equity transactions
Advanced financial modeling capability and ability to interpret financial metrics or complete financial analysis when analyzing investment opportunities
Desire and ability to learn about new companies and industries, and ability to quickly get up to speed in understanding company financials and performance trends
Experience with outside-in sector research and analysis
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's degree required
