Position Summary:
The School of Geosciences at the University of South Florida seeks to fill a 9 month, full-time and tenure-earning, Assistant Professor position, with a start date of August 7, 2025. Salary is negotiable.
We seek an innovative scholar whose work advances the science and technology of remote sensing, contributing to the development of novel methodologies, algorithms, and tools that drive the field forward. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong record of research focused on the advancement of remote sensing science, including but not limited to such topics of sensor development sensor development, image processing, hyperspectral and multispectral remote sensing, very-high resolution imagery, LiDAR, UAV, machine learning/GeoAI for remote sensing, and innovative approaches in data fusion and analytics.
Candidates who bridge foundational research in remote sensing with applications that address global environmental and societal challenges are especially encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active, externally funded research program, teach and develop courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise graduate students, and contribute to departmental and university services. Potential courses include introductory and advanced remote sensing, remote sensing seminars, GIS, and other subjects aligned with the candidate's expertise. Experience or demonstrated interest in fostering interdisciplinary research will be desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited instiution in the field of Geography, Remote Sensing, Environmental Sciences or a closely related field with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Applications from individuals who are ABD will be accepted, but the degree must be conferred by the appointment start date. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professer.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience or demonstrated interest in fostering interdisciplinary research will be desirable.
