ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The USF Botanical Gardens is part of the College of Arts and Sciences. It consists of about 16 acres of gardens and greenbelt on the USF Tampa campus. The Gardens maintains a living collection of more than 3,000 of plants, animals, and natural habitats.

Attracting thousands of visitors annually, the gardens serve as an important outreach component of USF. Plant festivals and other events attract enthusiasts from around the state to shop for rare and unusual plants and learn about sustainable gardening. The Gardens supports ongoing research in medical botany, biology, engineering, for example, and provide opportunities for service-learning to USF students. From student organizations to many Tampa Bay area volunteers, there are many ways to get involved on campus.

DUTIES:

Customer Service:

• Greet all customers and respond to any concerns they may have, which increases customer engagement and provides exceptional customer service.

• Handle complex customer inquiries and issues.

• Direct customers to merchandise in the gardens.

Financial Transactions:

• Balances cashiers at the end of the shift, adjusts as needed and prepares the bank deposits.

• Responsible for performing general cashiering duties such as collecting and verify payment.

• Accepts cash and credit cards for payment and completes check and credit card transactions according to established procedures and guidelines.

• Prepares payment vouchers, receipts, deposit slips, and related documents which record cash transactions.

Inventory/Operations:

• Work with the management team to ensure that inventory is arranged correctly and that the flowers/plants are organized and presented properly.

• Receives, unloads, and replenishes the shelves with transferred or new products.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a high school diploma, or successful completion of a GED equivalency test. Six months work experience in a position handling cash and other forms of payment is required.
