Meta's Safety Policy team works with external stakeholders and internal teams across Meta to understand the relationship between our platform and the safety and well-being of those on our platform, and to support the safety and well-being of our diverse global community through our policies, tools, resources and partnerships.We are looking for a Youth Safety Policy Manager to help drive our strategy in the youth safety and well-being space, with a particular focus on age appropriate content and experiences. This individual would work on these issues across our policies, technology, and resources, as well as through engagement with external experts and leading organizations who specialize In areas ranging from designing age appropriate experiences to developing standards, and more. This individual will be responsible for: (1) bringing subject matter expertise from both their own experience and engagement with experts and expert organizations to our product, operations, and policy work; (2) counseling product teams, including issue spotting and proactively solving for new and emerging issues; and (3) working with experts, external organizations, and industry, around these areas. The ideal candidate is a constant learner, skilled at prioritizing and problem-solving with limited oversight, well-organized, good at navigating ambiguity, expert in juggling multiple tasks/timelines at once, and passionate about this subject matter, the services we provide, and the people that we serve. This person should be a strong communicator who excels at working collaboratively and effectively within highly cross functional global teams and consistently delivers high-quality work under pressure, as well as the ability to evaluate the policy and safety implications of our policies, tools, processes and systems. They should have experience driving multiple projects or teams in a fast-paced environment with relevant focus and expertise in understanding child and teen developmental needs/stages, designing age appropriate experiences, and supporting product teams in these specific areas.
Safety Policy Manager, Youth Responsibilities:
Responsible for understanding the global landscape of academia, civil society, advocates, think tanks and other relevant global stakeholders on youth well-being issues, with a focus on age appropriate content and experiences.
Develop and implement frameworks and be able to proactively detect risks and develop mitigation strategies, as well as effectively communicate said strategies to product, ops, and policy teams.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand the external landscape around age appropriate content and experiences, including regulatory, technology, and industry-wide developments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
5+ years of experience in the intersection of tech, social media, and youth safety.
Experience with consensus-building and proven track record of collaborative approach to problem solving and teamwork.
Demonstrated experience working analytically in a fast-paced environment and thinking, moving and executing quickly.
Experience operating independently, highly organized, autonomous, and structured.
Experience growing and managing strategic partnerships, and presenting before internal and external stakeholders.
Experience producing results under deadlines, juggling multiple projects at once, finding pragmatic and creative solutions to business issues, providing concise and business-focused advice, and making sound judgments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of current youth safety legislation and regulatory compliance. Global or cross-industry work experience.
