Summary

The Senior Procurement Specialist at Universal Avionics is responsible for development and maintenance of global strategic alliances and partnerships with UA’s Supply Chain organization, and with supporting the Director of Supply Chain in streamlining the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process to ensure the Supply Chain organization meets Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Supporting responsibilities include performing negotiations, price analysis, execution of purchase orders, and establishing strong lines of communications with key strategic vendors, while ensuring compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops procurement and supply chain solutions, strategies, and policies to support key customer requirements with a focus on OEM customers.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships, and assist in the development and implementation of supplier base strategies
  • Formalizes procurement requirements with OEM customers and leads the supplier negotiation process.
  • Ensures compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible to procure and manage commodities for key strategic programs. This includes purchase order issuance and maintenance, administration of engineering changes, costing and cost project administration and purchased material cost analysis
  • Exercise a senior working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements.
  • Create PO package with all required documentation; i.e., Price Analysis, Justification Worksheet, Order acknowledgement, PPV, Excess, etc.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities, as well as overall material cost control
  • Provide training, guidance and coaching of Buyers and Planners in non-supervisory role
  • Assist with Sales requests including determination of material costs for a proposed project and analysis of product End of Life
  • Control and manage the inventory integrity of purchased items in the MRP data base associated with the commodities
  • Support development and execution of annual Supply Chain goals and objectives to support company strategic business goals and objectives, and manage selected projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 12 years of prior related experience.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in purchasing within an MRP (ERP) driven manufacturing environment.
  • Proven professional history and experience involving procurement negotiations.
  • Contract experience, including knowledge of terms and conditions, and other procurement agreement related experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of engineering documentation, product configuration.
  • Strong technical literacy.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs as well as MRP/ERP systems experience focused on supplier management processes, POs and deliveries.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal customers and suppliers.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions; and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
