Job Description:

We are seeking a versatile Software Engineer who excels in full-stack development and is enthusiastic about tackling challenges across various technology domains. In this role, you will play a key part in developing robust web applications using technologies such as .NET 7+/ASP.NET Core, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Bootstrap, Web Components/Lit Element and more. Moreover, you will have the exciting opportunity to explore the world of GIS/ArcGIS mapping applications and engage in mobile application development using .NET MAUI/Flutter, among other possibilities.


If unable to fill at the IT Applications Developer/Senior level, will consider applicants at the IT Applications Developer level, which requires experience, education, or training in coding computer applications. Pay Range: 28.702 - 42.310 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.


The Game and Parks Commission does not provide sponsorship for work visas. This position is on-site with little to no opportunity for remote work.


JOB DUTIES:
•Create computer programs using tools like .NET 7+/ASP.NET Core, HTML/CSS/JavaScript/Bootstrap, Web Components/Lit Element, and more.
•Join projects that use GIS/ArcGIS maps to show data in special ways based on location, solving interesting location-based problems.
•Learn about producing mobile apps using .NET MAUI/Flutter, providing smooth and enjoyable experiences for users on different devices.
•Work together with different teams to find and solve difficult software problems.
•Take part in the entire process of developing software, including requirements gathering, designing, coding, testing, and preparing the project for use.
•Fix any issues in the software and make sure it is highly functional.
•Help users and clients with technical support when they have questions or need assistance.
•Position is located on-site at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Headquarters in Lincoln.

Requirements / Qualifications:




Minimum Qualifications:



IT Applications Developer/Senior: A bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications; programming experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis


IT Applications Developer Senior: Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Actively developing web applications, with expertise in either ASP.NET Core MVC or Java Web application using Java EE/Jakarta EE within the last three years. (Required)

  • Actively using technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX within the last three years

  • Actively using SQL databases and writing SQL queries within the last three years

  • Able to work as a full-stack developer with minimal guidance from leadership

  • Experience with creating GIS/ArcGIS applications or mobile apps

  • Familiarity with making mobile apps

  • Knowledge of creating single-page applications (SPA)

  • Interest in learning about GIS/ArcGIS, .NET MAUI/Flutter, Web Components, and other technologies

  • Use logical problem-solving skills

  • Good task management skills




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
:



Knowledge of software development principles and methods; principles and process involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution; software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation; infrastructure requirements; systems analysis; logical/physical database design; database management principles and methodologies.


Analyzing needs and product requirements to create a design; using basic math to solve problems; information gathering; active listening; communicating effectively; writing, debugging, and maintaining code.


Ability to communicate information and ideas to others; develop creative ways to solve a problem; organize, plan, and prioritize work.


The senior developer pay range is $34.490 - $50.842 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.
